Well, they refer to your stories (or parts of stories) as "documents". You'll have to upload each individual story, give it its own separate label, and then go to the story feature (where they'll ask you to acknowledge you've read their guidelines--by the way, don't put any fics based on songs there, they had a cow about a year or so ago and banned those from the site), and then you have to select what category (movie, TV, etc.) you want it to go in, then the specific TV show (or whatever) and then tell it what the rating for the fic is. Their ratings are kind of odd, but they run like this (or at least this is how I translate them as)--
K = PG
K+ = PG9
T = PG13
M = PG16/R
MA = R/NC17
Most people get away with putting their more explicit fic under the M rating, even though there's some that I'm quite sure shouldn't be there at because it's clearly something that should have been rated as a MA fic, and those aren't allowed.
Then you can do any last minute edits to your story (and I do suggest you double check it, because it's picky and doesn't always show what you might use for scene breaks, for example, or depending on the type, it might not translate the italics or bold within your story onto the version they have, so you may have to redo that). Then you submit it, and it'll pop up on the page.
But yeah, they kind of make you go through hoops to get anything up on that site.

Was this the army that invaded your country, ma'am? No, officer, they were taller than that...
How about this one? I'm not sure--get them to march up and down a bit...

Re: Randomness
I was going to try ff.net for the heck of it. I know I have an account there, I'm just trying to remember what it was. I might end up pubishing under the name "lis" because of it.
I never (bothered) understood their rating system. Thanks JK.

What they don't allow filks??
But that's like all I can write

And their interface is like totally excruciating. Bah. What's with all the "documents" stuff
their "WYSIWYG" editor is like as far as possible from actual WYSIWYG and their html editor goes like FrontPage Lite or something on me, adding unnecessary code and stuff (yeah even with all its restrictions) and deleting some <p> tags I put there, grrrr
Oh and totally unrelated, I just trimmed my hair by myself so now it's like totally uneven. Well not that it was even before. For the same reason

You can do filks, that's not a problem, because it's your own words. But if you write a fic based on a song (with the lyrics of a copyrighted song within the story), and someone reports it, they will yank the story.

Really? I wonder if I should pull the lyrics from The End by The Doors from the final author's note of Elysium...

Depends. Are you delibrating using it as part of the fic, or just in the author's note? And is it like one or two lines, as opposed to the whole song (which is what some people were doing)?
Here's the specific part of the guidelines that deals with what you can't post on ff.net:

Here's the specific part of the guidelines that deals with what you can't post on ff.net:
Entries not allowed:
- Non-stories: lists, bloopers, polls, previews, challenges, author notes, and etc.
- One or two liners.
- MST: comments inserted in between the flow of a copied story.
- Stories with non-historical and non-fictional characters: actors, musicians, and etc.
- Any form of interactive entry: choose your adventure, second person/you based, Q&As, and etc.
- Chat/script format and keyboard dialogue based entries.
Actions not allowed:
- Multiple entries of the same material. There can only be one copy of any unique story on the entire site. No exceptions.
- Rewriting names of characters/locations of one story in order to upload to multiple categories.
- Copying from a previously published work (including musical lyrics) not in the public domain.

Re: Randomness
It's just in the A/N and I only use a couple of stanzas from the beginning of the song. Looks like its probably safe.

Yeah, I wouldn't worry about it. Especially if no one's complained about it in all this time.
It's not like some of the stories that people were posting there that copied the entire song's lyrics within the story itself... or the stories that basically used, word for word, entire scenes from TV shows, with one or two lines of thought added that some put up and called a "story" (I saw that going on over there, too...)

I doubt it.
I'm pretty sure that those would fall under the "non-stories" portion of the guidelines, even if it doesn't specifically list that those are prohibited.

Re: Randomness
Dude! What the frell is wrong with FFN's search option?? Why can't someone just like type a story title as a string and get the frelling story?? Like I entered "Something From Nothing" as title because it was one of the first TnT fics I read and I really wanted to find it again, and here's what it says:
Had to go through the frelling directory and sort it and sort again to finally find the frelling thing
like what kinda "effective" search function is that supposed to be?? Especially on a site with like millions of fics and writers???
Oh and can't even find my own user name with their frelling "search". Like seriously what do they even have a search option for if it's like totally dysfunctional??

Invalid Search
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This error can happen when your keywords are too generic: the, we, are, you, us, etc. Search also ignore keywords shorter than 3 letters. Please use more specific keywords or use alternate wording.

Re: Randomness
Well, this fricking sucks. Class let out about twenty minutes or so (clearly, I live very close to the campus) and, on my way home, my car's clutch gave out so it's basically stuck in fourth gear. I was very fortunate that the lights went my way so I didn't have to stop, and nobody was around the three stop signs I had to blow through to get home.
And that's on top of dropping nearly $400 on a single class and book for what is going to amount to a skate class.

But it can't see the router?
I'm sorry, could you please repeat that in English?
Sorry....I start speaking geek and well...

NIC= Network Interface Card (the card that allows your computer an interface (access point) to the internet)
Router= computer networking device that buffers and forwards data packets across the internet toward their destinations.
Print Server=computer or device to which one or more printers are connected, which can accept print jobs from external client computers connected to the print server over a network. The print server then sends the data to the appropriate printer that it manages.
Make sense now?
I tried to make it simple....I swear!
