Trying to get frickin' Turbo Tax to stop insisting I need to put figures in a vehicle expense worksheet I don't need this year, especially since it simply refuses to accept "0". On their web site they claim they've fixed this problem with their latest update. They haven't.

I owe money, so I've got no good incentive to do it early except of course not having to look at it anymore. :(

Jim and I gave up doing our own taxes. We send them to an accountant and it is worth every penny!

Yeah, we used to do that when we lived in NJ and had someone working in NY, but it used to take me so long to gather all the info for the accountant I don't really notice any difference. Just the struggles with dorky software -- and it's the same program he used. :)

I see your point! When our taxes get simpler, maybe we could go it alone. But we had out-of-state inheritence stuff to deal with like a house in Florida and a partnership type stock thing in New York State and the business got sold. And it had to get divided up between inheritors who lived in Florida, New York, and Wisconsin. A little over my head, I will admit.

Oh, that's the stuff nightmares are made of.

I have this pathetic little chunk of stock I was given when I worked at Pearson that pays me about $1.20 in dividends once a year and is probably worth a tiny fraction of what it used to be worth. The bank that manages it lost my personal info this year so I even got a nice a risk of identity theft because I still own this frickin' thing. But the thought of figuring out the tax end of it (especially having to figure out my cost basis, the horror) has kept me from selling it for years. And I probably could have used the loss this year. Oh well.

At least it gives me the right to vote against the jerk in charge of human resources on the board once a year.

Marvelling at how well this situation turned out:

http://www.cnn.com/2009/WORLD/africa/04 ... topstories

Not only did everyone get home safe, but pirates learned two things:

1. American crews won't lay down and take it

2. SEALs don't miss.

This is a proud day for us, IMO. 8)

Doing:

Thanking GOD I am done with that letter. Because my GRE Math sucked, I have to write professors to tell them why they should sponsor my graduate admission. :? I hate selling myself. It's probably why I didn't get a real job after college. I just find it so low and debasing.

I agree, Elessar! It was an efficient operation. I just hope the lesson the pirates learned sticks. I'd hate us to have to repeat the lesson.
