Reading PhD Comics. It's about life as a grad student, so I'm not sure how some of them translate.
How to ruin a grad student's evening (I don't drink, but otherwise it's spot-on for me.)
Campus map for grad students
Good stuff.

What I am doing this weekend (in case anyone is interested, L  L).

Digging up the yard on the east side of our house to plant wildflowers so we don't have to mow there. :raspberry:

Help teaching a boating safety class on Sunday. :)

Possibly taking the cover off my boat and applying some anti-fouling paint. :|

Possibly (finally) getting on with writing that sequel to Tides of Space. 8) And revising/expanding the original story.

Possibly working on finishing two half written ST short stories. :dunno:

Hanging out at the yacht club bar.
Working on a major fan fic project. Two-thirds done. Hope to put it up in the not TOO distant future.

I've been busy - finished two papers this weekend - so I rewarded myself by taking the day off after class and doing nothing remotely productive. Instead, I found "Stargate SG-1" on hulu.com and watched a ridiculous amount of episodes. I'd only seen a couple before, and now I've seen almost half of the first season. It's pretty good although some of the plots are standard sci-fi fare.

What I want to know is how many pairs of glasses Jackson goes through. Seriously, it's almost enough to make me want to write a fanfic from the perspective of his optometrist wondering why he's always back buying yet another pair of glasses. "This was the fourth pair in six weeks. Jackson ought to consider contacts."

Well yes. I continue to write. And on Fanfiction.Net, for those who want, it is possible to cast a glance at my latest efforts. We arrived to
The Ears of the Elves, chapter Forty-four

And here is the beginning of the whole story.

But, I must say, you could also find something else on Fanfiction.net written by me. If you want.

What am I doing? Well, it's almost lunchtime at the Texas star party, so I'm sitting on the porch of my bunkhouse at Prude Ranch in the blazing sun (finally, it's been cold) in my
pajamas texting you all! I was up till 4:00. We've got clear skies (and real wimpy internet)and are hunting faint fuzzies each night. Today there's a lecture on astrobiology. :)

Faint fuzzies? :? Is that a technical term for stars?

Faint fuzzies are usually galaxies, nebula, supernova remnents, sometimes compact star clusters called globular star cllusters. Last night the guys in our group were hunting distant galaxy clusters just on the verge of visibility. I looked at a group a billion light years away (and a billion year in the past) looking through their telescope. Those were REALLY faint fuzzies.
