Just got back from watching the 'bad-tasting' one again with my kid. I still think it's great. I expected to find it a little tiresome the second time around, but I didn't.

Chris Pine really did a remarkable job -- I think he somehow captured the lively spark of Kirk without any of the excesses of Shatner.

Oh, how funny--me, too!

Not with your kid, though...I went with my best friend.

Reading: Just finished The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. There were a few funny bits, but overall I didn't think it was especially grand.

I feel asleep watching that movie  My husband also. To my defense I thought the movie was a little bit boring and I was sleepy before I start watching the movie.

That must have been scary, T'Poptarts! I felt tremors when I was in Mexico City years ago one summer, but my only visit to California was for a Star Trek convention a couple of years ago and that weekend there were no earthquakes.

Evcake, while watching that history of Appalachia did they talk about Carbon Creek and did you notice any people with pointed ears.  :vulcan: Hey, you just never know, it might really be true! 8)

Uh, well, an Ojibwe (Chippewa) dancer was teaching us a dance step that was supposed to have originated when Indians first stepped off their space ships and tested to see if the ground would hold their weight. He was probably "pulling our leg" about that as Native Americans have a highly developed sense of humor and are not "wooden Indians" - that is such a false cultural steriotype. But anyway, my point is that maybe those Cherokee people really ARE the Vulcans.  :vulcan:
