Unfortunately, as I recently discovered in another discussion, humor is often mistakenly perceived as tacit approval, even though nothing could be further from the truth.

I'm not always convinced it's a mistake. There are a set of people out there who feel very strongly against X (whatever that may be, clubbing seals, cutting down the rain forest, taking pictures of kittens for Ultra Kawaii) and will twist anything that could possibly be interpreted as supporting X just so they can rant and feel superior. I'm actually quite surprised at the response to the original post. On HoT there seemed to be a group of people always searching for things like that to be offended by. Fortunately they must not have come along for the ride...

yeah, HoT ran thru my head just as I clicked "submit", and I went.....oooooooo maybe I'm gonna piss people off. and I almost didn't bother posting. But then I thought: this board is WAAAAY more mature and relaxed than the HoT board (as far as stupid rants about stupid, usually-unrelated, crap go) and so I submitted anyhow. Thanks for not hating me everyone. It made me giggle.

Well, I'm not either, but I was trying to give everyone the benefit of the doubt.

I don't know anything about HoT; I actually started out over there and posted a few times, and ended up here because there seemed to be a lot more going on. We've had some problems here and there in the SW fandom--I think it's inevitable, to varying degrees, when you put so many different personalities and backgrounds together--but whenever any of us have formed a new community, Rule #1 has always been "Leave your grudges/wank/attitudes at the door" and that seems to work out just fine.

OK How did I not look at this thread months ago????? I must've been crazy, there are some truly talented people here. I've gone through the whole thing, and some were hysterical, some were slightly cliched, some were incredibly romantic, and all were good for a laugh.
