Last Saturday Jim (my husband) and I went to an annual picnic of a retired aviators group Jim belongs to because he is a director of the Mitchell Gallery of Flight which is a small air museum in Mitchell Field. Jim Lovell attended as he has given many items to the museum such has his flight jacket and cockpit checklist for Apollo 13. Jim Lovell has a humorous story about one of his visits to the museum. A women looking at the museum recognized him and asked for his autograph which he gave her. But her young son, about six years old, was not very impressed. The boy had seen the movie with Tom Hanks, so he went over to Jim Lovell and kicked him in the shin saying "you're not Jim Lovell!"
The picnic was at a grass airfield owned by one of the aviators group members. So I snapped a couple of photos inside the hangar where the food was set out:

another photo in the hangar:

here is a photo of my Jim, me, and Jim Lovell:

This photo is of the whole aviators group and their guests. Jim and our friend George are on the left side standing. I am kneeling on the right side, front row. Jim Lovell is in the middle. The airplane behind us was rolled out of the hangar so we could have the food inside:

Working on a major fan fic project. Two-thirds done. Hope to put it up in the not TOO distant future.
