You're both a lot more daring than I am with color! Most of my house is some shade of beige or blue! Except for our office, which is a dark orange (I love it!) and our powder room, which is a Tiffany Blue!

We painted the bedroom gold last year and I HATE IT!!!!! The carpet is brown. Gotta change that soon.

Oh God I HATE beige! Whenever you watch a house getting staged or designed to sell on HGTV, they paint it beige, or some sort of "neutral" :upchuck: maybe it's all those stays in hospitals, but neutrals, whites and beige just depress me until I'm just absolutely miserable. But I gotta say I also hate gold, it's too muddy. When I say yellow I mean a bright cheery make you smile yellow. Actually I'd nix the purple, only I have a purple carpet that can't come out anytime soon. But it's not too awful.

All the rooms on the first floor of our house are connected - kitchen, family room, dining room and living room, so we have to have them the same color. And they're too big to make a really bold color. That's why I made the powder room Tiffany blue.

I am fine with beige, really, but the one thing I can't stand is wallpaper!!

Oh don't get me wrong, I get it. Heck I've even seen beige where I like it, but that's only when Candace Olsen on Divne Design does it, or David (can't spell his last name) on Color Splash. Like I said I can't stand it when things look sterile, too many hosiptals. And trust me nost of the beige I've seen is sterile. I'm sure you're house is just right for you. But I'd probably go nuts. But then my Grammy likes far more adventurous colors in her life. I do have some limits. And yeah I loath wall paper too, but I have seen beautiful wall paper. I'm just gun-shy of something that's semi perminent. At least with paint, it's easy and cheap to change.

When did everyone turn against wallpaper? I keep hearing this: that wallpaper is out. I love wallpaper.

Hmm. Well for me like I said I'm a huge commitment-phobe when it comes to decorating. And like I said I have seen amazing beautiful wall paper which I am cetain costs a fortune. Unfortunately most of the wall paper in your average home supply store is pretty henious, well maybe not all of it. But the last time I checked I was shocked that some of it was so bad. I guess the main reason is it's so specific. And as our world shrinks we're becoming pretty homogonized, (like Vucans ;-) ) according to real estate research something like 90% of people don't want to deal with wall paper when they buy a house. Appearently they also don't want to paint then bland colors themselves.

We wallpapered the kitchen and bathroom of our townhouse and even after I got kind of sick of it we didn't change it because it's such a BIG DEAL to change it. We sold our townhouse to the first people who looked at it (this was 6 years ago) even with the wallpaper.

That and the fact it's a pain in the rear end to put up, and if you mess up even a tiny bit the whole thing looks awful no matter how pretty the paper, and you literally can't get sick of it because of the work and expence of taking it down, then repairing the walls for something different is another pain. My god paint is so much easier.

Frankly I think all of the real estate shows on HGTV are a load of bull. If you like a house you can change walls.

That's awesome! I like warpgirl's red guest bedroom idea too. if the guests stay too long, they'll get headaches. perfect guest limiter, and it looks nice too!

Here's some randomness.

1. While sitting at your desk in front of your computer, lift your right foot off the floor and make clockwise circles.

2. Now, while doing this, draw the number '6' in the air with your right hand. Your foot will change direction.

Actually it was the guest bathroom/washroom that's going to be red. But that's kind of the idea. I can't do your trick my CP won't let me! I wanna do it!

Cerebral Palsy. It's very difficult to explain over a computer, I suggest google.

Yes, I know about it, but there's so many different kinds. I first remember learning about it as a girl from reading "Karen" by Marie Killilea. An awesome book about cp in the 40's.

Tell me about it. I have one form my brother has another, and my sister has it so mild it's not even officially diagnosed. Me I'm the only one in a wheelchair.
