You can't take the dreams at face value. Normally anyhow. Everything is symbolic and a product of your unconscious mind. Cool, huh?

You're wanting to do something but can't find the things you need to do it...or you are worried that you won't be able to find them. So you are searching and worrying and wanting to "mend things". I think sewing could be a very telling thing and it makes perfect sense to me. Or it could have been something as simple of the deadline...

I almost never remember my dreams. Just as well, though. I'd probably want to endlessly analyze them.

I don't dream anymore. I used to because I could dream of the far future. Now it is all past and I don't want to relieve it.

Funny you say that.

This isn't about dreams specifically, but that remark made me think about the fact that mentally I do all my "writing" just as I go to sleep or just as I'm waking up...and at night it tends to be more plot stuff, but as I'm waking up it's like I'm channelling dialogue.

Hmmm. Sounds like a case for staying in bed all day if you ask me!! Just kidding. ;-)

Aquarius, same with me. Usually when I have left Deep sleep and in a state of doze. that is when the writing starts. Unfortunatelly, I am not in front of my ccomputer, cannot get up and use it aas I will wake wife (she is a bear when distubed at night) so by morning much is lost. Frustrates Hell out of me. Not actual Dreams though.

I don't tend to do any of the physical writing while I'm in bed, but I'll remember it when the time comes once I've hit on THAT THING that I need to write.

I'm back to the easy to interpret dreams: The all you can eat buffet where I load up my plate and then don't get to eat. (This is litterally a reoccuring dream. I even mentioned it in this thread.) This time, they packed up the buffet just as I got up there. I only got one taco! I wanted some barbecued chicken!!!! :( And spend the rest of the dream running around explaining to people that I'd paid my 8 dollars and wanted some food, and they'd agree and send me on to the next person who couldn't help me either.

Interpretation: I love all-you-can-eat buffets. So this is a very unimaginative nightmare, lol . . .

Still symbolic. You only put the all-you-can-eat-buffet in the dream because you like it. But it still means something much deeper than just the food. It actually sounds kind of similiar to the other dream you had. You're searching for things and still looking for what you want to make your plate satisfactory.

I'm having fun with this. :) Hopefully you don't mind...

I wish I had this writing when you're just dozing off thing. I always had to fight for every word. Well, unless they were talking. Then sometimes they just took off with the scene.

I wonder, though, if the fact that it's happening in that "twilighty" state of mind is because we CAN'T fight our own minds.

I also did alot of preliminary writing in bed, as I went to sleep or woke up. I would think hard about the next scene till I could totally visualize it BEFORE getting up in the morning and writing before work. Sometimes I would work out a plot snag, but in that case I needed a paper and pencil by the bed or I would jump up and write something on the computer and come back to bed. That drifting asleep or awake period seems to be very productive for writing. I would also try to "write" while I walked the dog, but that didn't work as well. "Writing" and driving is not really productive either (for me).

Mostly I come up with stuff when I park my butt in the chair and try to come up with stuff. But I also have ideas in the shower. When I'm really in full-on writing mode, this can make for pruney skin, water waste, a steamed-up bathroom, and running late.

Also, the trick is remembering the brilliant ideas you have in the shower if you can't immediately park the butt in the chair.

I have to sit in the dark with NO sound. Then if I put Trip and T'Pol in a scene in my mind, I could hear their voices and I was off and writing. Descriptive scenes were an incredible struggle, but my favorite to write! I like straining my brain. I think the effort was part of the fun for me. I was struggling to find my very best. I enjoyed the challenge.

Night time was always the best for me. Before I had the responsibility of a job, in high school and college I'd start writing after 10 pm and keep going until 5 or 6 am. It was nuts, and in college I'd sometimes skip class in the name of creativity. I don't do it now, but I could so easily start. I miss those writing jags. I did my best stuff sleep-deprived.

I actually had a Trip & T'Pol dream last night!!!!!!! :happyjump:

I don't remember much in the way of details, but I watching a new movie starring T &T! They were in some kind of battle scene - except it looked like a WWII battle (?) and I was thinking something like "Oh My God! I can't believe they made a new movie with Trip & T'Pol. This is SO AWESOME!!!!" and then, again, I swear this is the truth, ousted Illinois Governor Rod "the hair" Blagojovich (sp?) made an appearance. Don't know why. So there you go, Trip, T'Pol and Rod Blagojovich. :dunno:

Weird, but not quite as weird as the dream I had where I was on a train pogo dancing to the Ramones "I Wanna be Sedated" with Barack Obama.

It may be that writing minds are always working deep down and what they have come up with surfaces under certain conditions. Sitting down in front of a computer or years ago, grabbing a pencil and pad and trying to write can be so damned frustrating because absolutely NOTHING comes out. NADA, ZILCH. Perhaps if you had just woke up or came out of a sleep and turned on computer or took pencil and pencil in hand then. but cold. Lots may be able to do it but I cannot. My mind has to be ready to write and I cannot force it to. When in the Diplomatic service was at times called and told to get a telegram off right away. Sweated bullets and caught flak until I had something that could be sent.
