As far as longevity and age, someone once said, "I'd rather have 62 Sammy Davis Jr. years than 150 Kenneth Starr years" in other words, it matters HOW you live more than how long...

How would I like to die? Hmm... well I can start with how I wouldn't like to die. I wouldn't like to die alone at an old age, I wouldn't like to die drowning, in a fire, or of asphyxiation. I don't really want to die in a plane crash, either, I had nightmares about that for years. As I got older they got more absurd and I'd fly out of the plane and land perfectly safe. I also don't want to die of radiation exposure. That's probably the most painful death there is, maybe next to cancer. We can tick that off. Oh, and I really wouldn't want to die of something stupid like pneumonia or cholera in some shit hole country like because I was backpacking in Peru and I just can't get help. Or like a staph-infected scrape on my knee in Zimbabwe. That'd be stupid.

I'm a little frightened of not seeing it coming. I'd rather see it coming... not sure why.

That being said, I wouldn't mind dying by being shot or blown up. I think it'd be kind of quick, most of the time, but not always of course. Stabbed would probably hurt a lot but be better than the others I mentioned.

"It matters how you live more than how long". I like that. Some Human should be saying that to some Vulcan, for sure.

Ah, the dilemmas of being a T'Poloholic and a TnTer... I suppose the same could be said for you Trippin' ladies... ;-)

I've been watching the Enterprise episodes as they appear on HDNet now for a few weeks, back from like early Season 3 all the way until Terra Prime tonight. I still haven't decided what to do about the abomination... I'll probably just delete it. Some things are just better left dead.

But it's given me a refreshed perspective on that whole time period - T'Pol's divorce, etc. And to be honest it's not a very good perspective. The whole thing just wasn't handled very well. It's not even that like, they're not together, and they're not all mushy gushy and therefore I'm unhappy with it... it's more like it's just confusing and doesn't make sense. Trip's never *really* going after her, he's just sort of asking her things on the side. She does treat him like shit in Awakening, Daedalus and Observer Effect, though. Those 3 episodes are really really anti-T'Pol. She's very OOC, IMO.

It's made me REALLY want to rewrite some of these scenes. The ONLY way I could make sense of them is if I assume they intended to complete their emotional retro-devolution by FINALLY having them approach their feelings RATIONALLY and MATURELY in the following season.

I don't think she treated him (not using that word) it's a girl thing but it isn't I defy any man to go through all that chaos with his head on straight. NEWS FLASH You guys would probably go just as nuts. Asking for time and patience isn't a (not using that word) to do. It's not like Trip said he thought they had a chance. Great just what every girl wants to hear, and WORSE ITS A LIE!

I just watched all those episodes, too, and I agree 100%!

I still maintain that their relationship was much more on and off and physical than some others, and in these episodes it is really unclear what's going on. I am sure T'Pol would have had a private discussion with Trip about her divorce. I also found it confusing when Trip says to Malcolm (in the drone ship) that "there's nothing going on with us anymore." Anymore? WAS there since her marriage? I am sure that Malcolm knew that she got married and that the two were together before that. Did they briefly reconcile after Koss released her? I don't get that line at all. I also don't fully get the "break up" scene in engineering where she tells him she won't have time for...........It didn't even seem like they were together at that point.

And I also agree that these episodes are ripe for rewrites and missing scene inserts. Oh, please!

I don't know if any of you knew him, but I just heard that BNF Bill Hupe passed away recently. He'd been involved with active Trek fandom forever it seemed (and SW fandom too, I think, but I'm not sure)...served on many con committees and was responsible for the publishing of many zines. He and his wife lived here in Michigan for a while, my mother was acquainted with Bill's wife as she was a doctor at the hospital where my mom works, and in the early 90s the Hupes were part of the committee that put on one of the best Trek cons I'd ever been to, and both were regular attendees of the Media West Con for years.

I dropped my iphone in the toilet and now it displays the following disturbing behavior:

1. it won't stay off (I shut it off right after to let it dry and it keeps coming back on)

2. it keeps giving me an error like "that device is not compatible with this phone" even though nothing is hooked up

3. keeps giving me the error "would you like to turn on airplane mode (you will not be able to receive calls) to eliminate audio interference?"

:doubt:

Well I need to figure out how to swing this... I already have an insurance claim open for this phone because I dropped it at Applebees and splintered the screen (which is held together by the adhesive screen protector). If I can get AT&T to write a fax to my insurance company that it can't be repaired and has to be replaced, I'll be golden, nobody'll be the wiser it has water damage. Water damage DQ's you for whatever neutered warranty you can buy from AT&T but this is on my insurance, so it's got nothing to do with that. This is just accident insurance. I guess I could tell them I dropped it at work and it got wet, or just tell em I dropped it at work and it's been doing this ever since....

Oh dear, Elessar, I think you need to put that Iphone on a leash. It seems to be either accident prone or suicidal. 12% of Iphones have these personality defects and I am surprised your insurance company did not discuss this with you.

Sorry, couldn't help myself. Sigh, I know, I know, this is the upsetting news thread, not the humor thread.

A leash? Silly Linda.

An *easier* solution would be to simply graft the iPhone into the flesh of Elessar's left forearm, of course. :duh:

People will freak at my boldness, but I ask you....isn't it worse now? The phones are currently grafted to our right palms.

Yeah, that happened at work once. The toilet was clogged and I couldn't get it to plunge for anything. Called the plumber and he comes out of the bathroom with a cell phone. Said it happens all the time...
