I've never heard of a haircut making split ends worse, but okay. Even good hairdressers can have a bad day, is all I can say.

Really, really bad scissors?

Or razoring...

It's a myth that razoring causes split ends. However, a badly razored cut will look really fly-away if it doesn't lose its shape completely.

Dull or off-balance shears will not cut a smooth, clean line, but the ends will still be blunt. You get more of a "folding" or "snapping" sensation as you cut with them. Hair that is overly-chlorinated will do the same thing under perfectly sharpened shears.

I told my sis I wanted her to use her razor rather than shears but she said, "Oh it won't help. You really screwed up by shaving your head. I told you not too." Yeah she also didn't have to do the medical test I did. But my hair is so thick a razor works better. And when I say thick I mean snaps ultra-strong bands like string.

'Kay I dunno if this belongs in the Whine thread or the happy news thread. I'll put it here, cause the good news outranks the whine. I just registered Aureilia for Kindergarten this morning!!! She starts in September. Wow. Her gestation seriously messed with my writing of the forgotten time and now she's GOING TO KINDERGARTEN!!?? Crazy.

So the whine:

A few days ago, I had to go to the school at 7 pm in the dark for an open house thingy. We live in a small town now, and it's rural, and there are NO streetlights. Maybe at, like, a stop sign, or what have you, but mostly it is DARK. I have absolutely and completely zero sense of direction, and our car's lights are feeble. So I'm trying to find this school I've never been to in the dark with the above factors all hampering me. It took me 27 km of driving up and down to realize that I'd passed it twice somehow. It's only about 7 km from the house.

So today, I get up and into the car at 820 am to go register her at the office. In broad daylight the turns I had THOUGHT I'd memorized so carefully that 1st time I'd tried to find it were redONKulously easy to see, and I found myself on the right road in no time at all...with 0.2 of a km to get to the school, I round a bend and notice suddenly a police car on the side of the road next to the school zone speed limit sign with a cop younger than me gleefully clutching his radar gun and staring straight into my eyes.

Because it took so long to find last week in the dark, I didn't expect the school zone so fast, and though I was braking, I wasn't fast enough.

I've had my license for 12 years and never once ever even been pulled over. He said (politely and regretfully) there's zero tolerance in school zones for any speeding, and he had to ticket me. I now owe the damn Government of British Columbia $190. Which right now is about $190 USD. My first ticket. yyyyeeeee-hah. :doubt: :(

Worst whine is, I have directly Gordon Campbell, the bloody Liberals*, and their bloody expensive pet Targ the Olympics to THANK for this show of dedicated officers surrounding the school. They have just thrown bajillions into the RCMP for the upcoming Olympics and there are two-car speed traps every where you look. Kay, I agree that stepping up security in VANCOUVER where the stupid circus actually IS, but HERE? In fuckin' Cow-Town, BC? C'mon. whine, whine, whine

But Kindergarten! YAY!

(See how conflicted I am?)

*[unconnected factoid: The "Liberal" party of BC is not what you'd think from the name. I consider myself of a liberal political standpoint, and yet you'd have to put bamboo under my fingernails to get me to even be in a photo with any of the Liberal party members, bunch of big-business-licking, scandalous, drunk-driving, old-people-and-children-sacrificing beasts that they are. The Premier himself, ol' Gordie was picked in up Hawaii for DRUNK DRIVING while IN office, and we voted HIM BACK IN, and HE"S STILL IN?! DEAR GOD!!!! What a strange world we live in.] Sorry, random rant.

If she sees a girl about her size at the park who she really likes the look of, she'll go right up to her, and giggle a little, and take her hand and try to kiss her on the cheek. Depending on the disposition of the little girl, there are various reactions to this overture.

Elvis turned a corner last night and started eating on his own. He's also started purring when we pick him up. His sugar is still a little high, but things are slowly getting back to normal.

And now I have no money.

My C. in Kindergarten had an unusual problem: he was the recipient of all kinds of hugs, from boys and girls. He would just stand there looking put out while kids threw their arms around him. I saw it happen. When I went to parent-teacher conference, C. asked me to complain about this to the teacher about this so I began "There is one problem . . ." and she said, "Yes, I know. The kids love to hug him . . . I don't know what it is. Maybe it is because he is so easygoing. We will keep working on that."

Once in kindergarten, I had to come in and get P. because he'd been hurt in a little fight: It happened because three kids wanted to sit next to him and when he picked out two kids who could sit by him the third one got mad and hit him. LOL . . .

The twins are very charismatic.

Must be! I wasn't popular really. But I was unforgettable, I mean leg braces crutches and a wheelchair, everyone knew me. In high school people would come up to me... "Hey..." I was like "Do I know you?" "Probably not I remember you from kingdergarden."

We have training tomorrow. Since we're only expecting 3-6 inches here, I'm sure they'll make us go in so that we can then struggle back on crappy roads.

Still, I'm happy to get SOMETHING. If nothing else, it's free insulation for my garlic.
