Yeah, they are. Not the easiest thing to write.

I divide the action into 'beats' (like a screenplay). First, Enterprise does this, the Klingon warbird does this, etc.

Makes it a lot easier, esp. if there's a lot of action and it could get chaotic.

Guys, need some encouragement to get my butt in gear to finish the first draft of "Darker than a Shadow" (the sequel to "Louder than an Echo".) I'm. bloody. stuck.

Thanks, Lady Rainbow, for the tip about the battle. I like to try to write a couple of things I never wrote before. As for the encouragement for your first draft: I enjoyed Louder than an Echo very much, so a sequel is more then welcome. I am sure you will find the inspiration.

I cannot write "funny" I am awful at it. Really I was working on the Karaoke story and worte two pages of severe angst. So I saved the pages for a draft of something new. I hope to get it done soon, but my guy is visiting for the weekend so it won't be quick. But I think this is my last attempt at funny. It's not my gift.

I didn't lose anything valuable, thank goodness. Everything on that hard drive was either backed up on my thumb drive or in email, someone else has a copy of, or is easily reconstructed from hard copies. It's just a pain in the butt. The ex tried valiantly to fix it but it's just fried. Fortunately it's under warranty. In the meantime, I can resurrect my old desktop and use that for the duration.

My ex works with computers for a living. If after 15 years with him I didn't learn to back up what I cared about, I'd be a complete idiot.

Sometimes even backups fail. Learned that the hard way.

*shrug* Sometimes not being able to be in a relationship doesn't have to result in a lot of childish drama. Sure, it *could* be a lot of things, but this is where we are, we're dealing with it as best we can.

I had a good relationship with my last ex before until I realized how nuts it made my husband.
