Presumably. Well ... he can hardly expect you to have them if he didn't order them. Is his class up online yet? You could check for an announcement, even send him an email. I had a student ask me about whether he could buy an older edition of the text before class even met.
OMG, ANOTHER new chapter! NORTH STAR Chapter 28

Re: The Whine thread.
I emailed him as soon as I got home, but given it's Labor Day weekend, I don't expect to hear back in any meaningful amount of time, since so many people of Michigan head to cabins up north or one of our many lakes for one last big hurrah for the summer.
No announcements and no topics started in the class bulletin board.

Re: The Whine thread.
So I woke up this morning, got ready for work, hurried...only to realize that I'd looked at the schedule wrong. I thought I worked at 9.. I'm not actually due in until 11!! I could've had an extra hour of sleep.
And, today is the day I'm giving my notice at the second job. The manager isn't going to be happy. She's a friend of mine from the first job. I had originally asked her for a summer job, but the owner said she didn't want to deal with temporary situations so if I got hired, I'd have to stay on once school started. I agreed to work one day a week during school, and this was assuming that I'd be moving back to the Detroit area in December/January between semesters. One of my future roommates is now being transferred to Indiana, so that living situation kind of unraveled. I have no meaningful prospects for going back to Detroit in the foreseeable future, so I fcoound a job closer to home because it makes no sense for me to continue to drive all this way knowing that I'm not going to be shortening that commute any time soon.
But she won't see it that way. And I realize it may even look like I planned it this way just to get the job, so it doesn't look good. But my life has changed since I cut that deal, so my needs have likewise changed. And I need to not drive an hour each way to work every day of the week.

Re: The Whine thread.
You didn't know your situation was changing. If your friend and her boss can't understand this, then they are not very reasonable people. And I doubt very much that they have to commute an hour each way.

Re: The Whine thread.
The owner actually lives in Ohio, so it's always a commute when she visits her Detroit stores. Still, comparatively, I bet she's making more money for the trouble of her commute than I'm making for mine.

No kidding.
I'm sure you worked hard for them while you were there. That's really all they can reasonably expect.

Re: The Whine thread.
Why do beans have to keep growing when I'm so freakin' busy? Don't they know I don't have time to obsessively pick and process them every single day, and no room left in the freezer either? And do they REALLY have to swell into gigantic dinosaur pods if I look away for just 24 hours?
I need a wife.

LOL I wish! It's a smartphone. Generally I love it, but sometimes it's a pain in the butt. Every so often it'll be sluggish and unresponsive, and it was doing that while I was trying to post things from work today, causing a few hiccups in what I posted.

Alelou, I know what you mean. About 2 wks ago I gave up and let my yard longs dry up to seeds.
Aquarius, good to know. Hubs was thinking about getting one.

CW--don't judge by my experience. I don't think they even sell my model any more. And it was fine until Verizon updated the firmware while I was in Las Vegas. The next models are probably fine. It's like computers--older, slower ones can't handle stuff as quickly or efficiently as newer ones.
