Can I make a suggestion???? Just start something new. Don't intend to do anything with it, just write... Take something your really love: A kissing scene, a torture scene... Whatever gives you a high to write and just write it. Don't be concerned with making it good, or a real story. Just give yourself the adrenaline rush of writing something out. It can be utter crap but you will have written something, try not to think of yourself as failing! It just makes it worse.

Maybe... been trying to write anything and all I can come up with are one-liners.

Well than do that! Do you know what I sometimes do... I type a page of my favorite quotes! They're not even my words but just typing them out helps. But you are too young to be so dang hard on yourself my dear. It won't help if you keep mentally pummling yourself to death.

gah. But mentally pummeling myself is what I do best. And I already have a 100+ page doc of quotes on my comp, so writing out another might be overkill...

But I'm a huge fan of Of Human Bondage if you can't tell, and I've been stuck in this rut all month:

"He yearned above all things for experience and felt himself ridiculous because at his age he had not enjoyed that which all fiction taught him was the most important thing in life; but he had the unfortunate gift of seeing things as they were, and the reality which was offered him differed too terribly from the ideal of his dreams. He did not know how wide a country, arid and precipitous, must be crossed before the traveller through life comes to an acceptance of reality. It is an illusion that youth is happy, an illusion of those who have lost it; but the young know they are wretched, for they are full of the truthless ideals which have been instilled into them, and each time they come in contact with the real they are bruised and wounded. It looks as if they were victims of a conspiracy; for the books they read, ideal by necessity of selection, and the conversation of their elders, who look back upon the past through a rosy haze of forgetfulness, prepare them for an unreal life. They must discover for themselves that all they have read and all they have been told are lies, lies, lies; and each discovery is another nail into the body on the cross of life."

Well, that and my ever favourite:

"I'm disappointed with you. And I can't understand. I know you can do things if you want to, but you don't seem to want to any more.”

*Shakes head* Anyway, writing. trying. now. anything. whatever. let's see what comes of it...

OK I gotta repeat the words Aaron Sorkin wrote for Josh Lyman in the pilot of The West Wing...

Victory is mine, victory is mine! Great day in the morning, victory is mine! I drink from the keg of glory. Bring me the finest bagles and muffins in the land!

Okay I have no bagles and no muffins, I'll get cookies. But after months of blood sweat and tears, after hard editing, after life throwing me a colossal ton of crap, Chapter 5 of May We Together Become Greater Than The Sum Of Us was finally finally submitted!

Now I will blast the Doobie Brothers, and celebrate! I'm free to work on my original work for a bit... Which will make mother so happy. :D Free at last, free at last, thank god almighty I am free at last!

PS you all get the revision of Rights Wrongs and Choices, after I'm done in Russia!

Well, I may not have gotten far in my writing attempts, but my Timeline has of (last night) expanded to cover 200+ years and I now have added a highly over-detailed map of Starfleet Academy (Praesido Campus) to my random bits of story things... not that it really does me any good, said map, all things considered, but.... it is nice. and colour coded.

Well I admire your attention to detail. I admit compared to you I'm downright lazy when it comes to my fanfic. But I am as obsessed with my original work.

and another post in my attempt-to-update-before-I-reach-the-2-month-mark....

so, I've been posting some onesies on ff.net that have helped to lasso my muse for AGS, but I thought you all might find it amusing that I totally gave myself an anyurism trying to figure out if Archer's name shortened to John or Jon, which I had used in previous chapters, and which was the more correct...

It's Jon. Jonathan doesn't have the "h" before the "n". And his name is Jonathan Archer, so Jon. :D My brother's name is Jonathan, and I have cousins and uncles named John, so it's a thing... At least you have some things up on ff.net. I'm happy for you. ;-)

Thanks... So, there's Johnathan and Jonathan? How on earth are you supposed to tell which is which, if you're just hearing them? Or is Jonathan techinally Jonathan (as in, the whale), or...?

God, why does life have to be so complicated? People always ask me if there's an "h" in my name, and I've never, not once (outside of France) seen it spelled with an "h". Yet even my father, who, apparently, won the what-do-we-name-our-daughter thing, thinks there's an "h" in my name... it's insane.

Wild guess, your name is Theresa???????? My mother spells it without the "h." And people tell her she spells it wrong. John and Jon are actually a little different. Since you don't breath a slight "h" before the "n." But both "o's" are short.

I have never seen the name Jonathan spelled J-O-H-N-A-T-H-A-N. And not everyone called John is a Jonathan, so I've never been confused about it.

Nicole, actually. But my dad always spells it Nichole, which has cause more than a few problems in offical paperwork. But Theresa is a cool name, (and I usually see it spelled with an "h").

When I say "John" and "Jon", though, there is no phonetic difference to me - well, unless the Jon is from Prague, and then it's "Yon", but the ideal holds - but it might be a dialectical thing.
