Re: Randomness
Yeah GoogleBot and I have had some special times too.
Speaking of Google, I just Googled "trip t'pol" to get some images I needed, and MY 1st ever Trek video I made is #5 in the results! For all of Planet freaking Earth!
(TriS doesn't even come up. I think we need to tweak our keywords for this site.) The vid has almost 100,000 views and that's AFTER YouTube deleted it for "copyright infringement"
when it already had 80,000 views. I always wondered why this particular vid did so well...I guess the google placement certainly didn't hurt.
Isn't 2011 weird? Back in 1991 to have 180,000 people see a Trek video you made would be....impossible. Now it's standard operating procedure.
I remember the 1st trek vid I ever saw was in 1994 at a con (age 14) and I was blown away by the concept, and mindboggled by how much work it would be with VHS video tapes to comb thru for footage. It was a worf one to "Why Should I Cry For You" ....and so of course 13 yrs later I made a TnT one to the same song. and thanks to digital video editors and YouTube it was as easy as pie.

Re: Randomness

Ok my random thing... The Jewel Quest game is hijacking my brain... I can get through the explorer level no sweat. But in "Adventurer" mode I can't get past level 4. And since the game wipes your high score when you run out of lives, I star at the bottom over and over again!!!! HELP I'm OBSESSED. And I'm going crazy, just like the archologist Avatar... Soon I'll be writing obsessive little ramblings in a notebook. I'm scared.

You'll be looking for a way to save the game state, then?

Re: Randomness
I'm pretty tech illiterate, but the game saves automatically. You just lose a life everytime you re-start. Doesn't matter though my score is already re-set to 0 I'm just going to start a new profile and whiz through explorer mode again. Main problem is in Adventurer mode if you run out of moves you also lose a life. NOT FAIR. The meanies.

Re: Randomness
I don't know anything about the game, but if the game state is held at the client (i.e. on your PC) then it is possible to take a snapshot and then go back to the same state if you crash and burn. But when you do eventually win, it will probably more more satisfying if you have done it the hard way, paying in lives for each failure.

Re: Randomness
cogito's right you need to save the game's state. then you wouldn't lose a life every time. like i do with donkey kong country for super nintendo on my computer.
Yeah, no. I'm pretty lazy that way.

Re: Randomness
Ek I'm no techie for one simple reason, I panic! Nothing to do with gender. I happen to think women make better tech support than men. They don't sigh ad groan at you over the phone. You can just "hear" some guys roll their eyes at you when they're being condesending. Although my brother just does it right in front of me and talks to me like I'm his 4 year old daughter. Then reminds me that SHE already can do this stuff...
