Yeah, it's kind of absurd. I took this pic at Star Trek: The Experience at the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia. This was right before the last movie came out.

The Midol one is the best, that is the worst. GRRRRRrrrrrrrr . . . .

Several months ago, instigated by I forget what, I made a comment to a coworker: "She can bring home the bacon, fry it up in a pan." I got this anxious, polite, smile, then I suddenly realized, "Oh you are too young to know what I'm talking about . . . and actually this commercial would be kind of shocking today. It used to be so edgy. A lady would come home from work, rip off her work cloths, be wearing a dress, and sing:

I can bring home the bacon
fry it up in a pan,
and never, never, let you forget you're a man
'cause I'm a wo-man . . . Aviance. [The perfume]

See, she could work AND cook AND be sexy for her guy?"

And this younger woman is staring at me appalled, lol . . .

Okay I admit it, I don't understand why women would get offended about "bringing home the bacon and frying it in a pan." Isn't the fact that we're able to be so many things a GOOD thing?

Personally, I don't see why it's so bad to say that men and women have different strengths and weaknesses. It shouldn't make either gender inferior to the other. We're just wried differently, it's a biological fact, proven by science.

Maybe it's sad that it was ever edgy to say: Wow look, I can work and carry a briefcase, and STILL be a woman! I mean at the time, we were all into it. It was a great ad.

Well it makes the point to all the idiots who say it's either one or the other. But all humans are just too easily offended, period no matter what their race, color, creed or gender. See all are equal!
