Re: September Chicago Con
Believe me, I would love to go, and if it had been last year then I totally would have been there. But I'll be back at home in the UK, looking for a job and probably not getting very far
Re: September Chicago Con
we'll see - ellie's expected to be back in the UK by then.

Y'all will have to take some pics for me, or Skype it so I can watch it at home with a cup of tea and some decent toast with my dog on my knee
Re: September Chicago Con

Re: September Chicago Con
If I were to do it, it would be at the last minute, so as not to feel guilty for long about spending all that money. But no, . . . . I shouldn't. I've had enouph. I'll be there for the big 50th anniversary!

Re: September Chicago Con
In today's economy I'm pretty much done with cons until I need to go to market my novel...which at my current speed of completion might very well be the 50th anniversary or later.

Re: September Chicago Con
Dis you do not want to know the state of mine.
Honestly, I never thought I'd like to go to a Con. I don't do well in crowds, and I nearly fainted when Chef Martin Yen (Yen Can Cook) kissed my hand at a cooking demonstration at a local winery when I was 14. I was so panicked I wouldn't even let daddy stay to get the cookbook. If I ever met someone from Trek (even Scott Bakula) I'd need Dis around with Valium and Oxygen...
But if I could pay for it, in this moment I'd book a flight I swear to god. I'm just so sick of my life I need a diversion.

Some of these people haven't taken their medication. Let's see what happens now...

WG, one thing I learned from working on TV and movie sets is that they are just regular people. ESPECIALLY celebrities that go to cons. If they have star-trips or huge egos they don't GO to conventions and interract with fans.

Re: September Chicago Con
I don't think you can get more humble than Martin Yen. I was 14 years old and I swear I was almost a foot taller than the man, but he bowed and kissed my hand, and I was holding on to crutches. And for some reason I was mortified. I couldn't fantom it, I was a chubby, cranky 14 year old and this tiny old gentleman treated me like Queen Elizabeth, and said I was beautiful. I burst into tears. Dad got so mad, and I told mom I'm crying because I don't understand why he was so nice! I'm NOTHING!
Ahhhh teen angst. Only I still get embarrassed if anyone is so nice to me... I mean if by some miracle I met and and they were nice. Forget it. I'd die of a stroke. I practically go into convulsions if my mom tells me I look pretty.

Then don't go to conventions, because I met Robbie Duncan McNeil, and he's nice.
