Yes it is. And boy did they kiss a lot at the wedding! Actually, I'm just a major history buff, particularly pre-WW1 Europian History, that means reading a lot about royalty, it's a habit that stuck.

I don't think anyone in Sweden missed the happy event. And if they lived in Stockholm, they got to hear the cannon salutes firing 42 rounds (called the double Royal salute, 2x21 for a new heir to the throne). Actually, if you turned on the TV at noon, you could hear and see the guns blazing.

Working at a newspaper, this is also pretty much what my day was devoted to.

^ The name is supposed to be revealed during tomorrow's special Royal Council meeting with the government. My guess is some of the following: Alice, Desirée or Christina.

Sweden's new little Princess is named Estelle Silvia Ewa Mary. Okay, I need a history lesson... I didn't think Estelle was a common Swedish name, especially in the royal family. I am glad that they also added Silvia to the name, Queen Silvia is a gorgeous, articulate, lady and she's a joy to watch.

I watched a documentery with her in it recently. I hope the little one takes after her.

^ I'm actually not too thrilled about the name. Estelle is not a traditional royal name in Sweden. The closest was an American-born Estelle who was married to count Folke Bernadotte.

Silvia and Ewa are the names of her two grand-mothers. I have no idea where they got Mary from.

I think Mary might have come from Crown Princess Mary of Denmark, I read that Crown Princess Victoria was one of Prince Christian's Godmothers. But what do I know I'm just an American.
