Alelou, dunno about that. bu I have seen some great knock down fights between women. I don't mean te hair pulling, kicking variety. Fists. Of course egged on by the men watching.

Needless to say I have seen a number of fights started by women who waved their Ass at two different men at the same time.

That was in my younger days when I would go to places with people like that.

I suppose it's probably different for different people and I won't claim this is true for everyone, but it seems to me that during the romantic phase of a relationship when everyone's thinking about hope and possibilities and uncertainties it is normal and healthy to feel possessive about the target of your affections and jealous of any potential rivals. It certainly is for males. That might not mean literally getting into fist fights (although it could do in some cases) but would involve looking for ways to endear yourself to the other person and trying to prevent rivals from doing the same.

How you deal with that jealousy must vary with the person. But if you are aware that the target of your affection is being courted by a rival and you don't feel jealous then perhaps you aren't particularly interested in that person, really. I thought that Amanda and T'Pol were both interested in Trip and would view each other as rivals.

Everything changes once the romantic phase has been resolved and the 'happily ever after' begins. I wouldn't expect T'Pol to be jealous of rivals for Trip's affection after they have exchanged commitments and settled down together. Well, she might do if she didn't trust Trip, but I'd hope that wasn't the case.

It's one thing to be jealous, which is understandable, and another to actually compete. This assumes a man is so worth winning that you must fight or scheme or put out or whatever it takes to get him, and that once you've 'gotten' him he will magically remain gotten ... or you have to be willing to KEEP doing that for the rest of your life, especially against any future tart who might want to fight or scheme or put out or whatever even harder than you. Seems to me that if you had to pull any special games to win a man, you're a prime candidate for being replaced by younger and more conniving one at some point.

Competing makes sense if you're just trying to get a superior genetic specimen to father your child, and couldn't care less about your actual relationship with him. It also makes sense if you simply see a man as your gravy train. I suppose it might also make sense if you think the guy you love is so lacking in particular taste that he'll just marry the first woman who makes him a good steak, or knocks another gal out in a bar, or gets a tattoo with his name in it, or whatever. But then, does he even see you at all, or are all women simply a more or less flattering reflection of himself?

I dunno. I was lucky to fall in mutual love with someone. If he'd been playing the field instead of being as smitten with me as I was with him, I think I would have simply gotten over it and moved on. I've read too much Jane Austen to see any dignity in anything else.

Back to the topic of the thread, though. Here's the next bio-poem.

I wish I had been able to see him one last time,
Like the others who got to say goodbye,
And I dream of conversations we will never have.
I am not regretting the path I chose, exactly.
I used to dream of something like this, and he knew that,
But now I finally understand the cost.
I seem to be as dedicated as ever, I’m sure,
But I'm really quietly examining my choices.

There are several possibilities, and for a while I wondered whether it was Archer - but I couldn't decide who he was thinking about. Then I thought - could be it Travis, thinking about his Dad in Horizon? I think that's far more likely.

(I'm kinda hoping I'm wrong, though, because I don't have any bio-poems to offer at the moment.)

I once drove away a woman I really cared about by my unreasonable jealousy. I smothered her. She walked to save herself.

One of my great regrets in my life.

Sorry. I got busy and forgot.

So... Your narrator has lost someone male without being able to say goodbye. And the narrator is quiet.

Hmmm. Travis? Didn't he lose somebody?

Cogito got it right ... and Distracted. (Travis lost his Dad, and yes Horizon would be the episode, although the rethinking could go on for years...)

So. I don't think there's too much pressure, Cogito. This thread is possibly petering out anyway.

Oops. I didn't read Cogito's post before I guessed. You're up, Cogito, unless you're too busy and you want me to go next.

Here's a simple one to amuse you this evening.

I wish I could make them understand
Like all the rest, they just sit and sneer
And I dream that one day she'll look at me and smile
I am judged and found wanting, instead
I used to pretend I didn't care
But now I won't hide my anger
I seem to be the one at fault
But I'm really just the first to see the truth

I don't have a clue. For some reason I keep thinking Porthos, but that can't be right.

It's not simple when you don't give specific context clues, Cogito. If the poem could apply to practically anyone, then it's impossible to guess who you mean. Your poem could be practically any male about any female who isn't returning his interest. Could be Trip and T'Pol. Could be Malcolm and Hoshi. Could be Tolaris and T'Pol. Could even be Archer and T'Pol if you want to go there. It isn't specific enough, IMO.

This was prompted by some very recent discussions on the forum. The clues are there, ambiguous though they may be.

He wants the object of his affections to smile at him. He has been judged. Because of what he is, or what he did? Did to her? He seems to be at fault. The people judging him are not the first ones to do so. He is angry. He believes he is in the right.

Season?

I'm afraid to go look at recent discussions! Presumably that means it's Archer? Presumably he wouldn't expect T'Pol to smile at him, so it's Hoshi? I'm trying to remember when everyone was mad at him, other than ANIS and Damage.

But I don't know if Archer would ever notice or care if the crew is judging him, especially if he thinks he's right. He'd just plow ahead.

Here's another clue - all the clues relate to the same incident.
