T'Pol awoke to the sounds of Sickbay. Apparently, giving birth had been more taxing than she realized.

"Hey," Trip said softly. He looked tired, yet happy. "Need anything?"

"I am thirsty," she replied.

When Trip went to get her some water, T'Pol noticed Jon sitting beside the Bassinet, staring at Lorian as if mesmerized.

She recalled him coming in earlier, wearing the Grandpa t-shirt Trip had given him as a gag gift. She had dozed off shortly after that.

When Trip returned, she asked, "how long has he been sitting there?"

Trip shrugged, then handed her a glass of water. "About an hour." He leaned over, and said in a conspiratorial whisper, "I think he's in shock."

T'Pol's only response was a quirk of her eyebrow.

You know what? This is really nice, but there is one thing, something small but great, that really grabs. A few words spoken by T'Pol: "I am thirsty".
I do not know, I can not explain it, but even in their appearing "nothing", they are able to say a mountain of things.
About T'Pol, about Trip. About both them.
And they're all beautiful things.

"You have to get up early."

"So? You don't have to do everything."

"I'm on the outside of the bed. Therefore, it is logical for me to go."

"Oh, Lord love a Duck, T'Pol!"

"I fail to see-"

"Never mind. Just let me get up, okay?"

"Very well."

"Really?"

"Is that a problem?"

"Well, no, it's just that...you caved awfully fast."

"Perhaps I am simply too tired to argue."

"Huh. Wait a minute, he's not crying anymore."

"I sense that he's confused."

"Can't say I blame him."

"..."

"Um, why don't we both go check on him?"

Summary: An afternoon of discovery.

“This is the Helix Nebula. They call this kind Planetary Nebulae, even though it’s not a Planet.”

Carefully balancing the Astronomy book on his lap, Archer turned the page to one of his favorite pictures.

"And this…”He announced to his companion. “Is the Arachnid Nebula. We actually got to see this one up close. Of course, that was before your time.”

Lorian squealed, and reached out to pat the picture.

“My thoughts, exactly,” Archer said, with a wry smile.

He couldn’t help but think that, just a few years ago, he had been primarily concerned with fulfilling his father’s dream, exploring space, and making history with every light year.

Right now, he was content to spend a lazy Sunday afternoon with his five month old Grandson.

It didn’t get much better than that.
