Not a good summer, but I'm almost too tired to whine. :(
Haven't been here for a long time and haven't had the energy to continue writing my story. Have been feeling a bit depressed lately about few things and last weekend got some more bad news. One of my cousins died last week. He was only 21 years old. It's just so unfair since my uncle and his wife wanted a baby very much, but couldn't get their own and then finally adopted a boy and now he dies young it's just so unfair and they were the kind of people that are very suitable to be parents.

I seriously doubt that it's hacking. It might be DOS attacks, but thats not the same thing. Maybe it's a bug in Apache or the linux kernel (the two most common components in web hosting)

Bookworm, thats so sad. My heart goes out to you and you family.

I hate it when they show movies on TV and they're not in widescreen, but in the old 4:3 ratio. The same for TV shows you know are made in widescreen but still end up shown in 4:3.

Now the major Swedish channels seems to have adapted to a degree, but it's almost as annoying. When there is a movie that was made in the 1:1.85 ratio they now show it in 1:1.78, the ratio of a modern widescreen TV (but still not the widescreen ratio of most movies). It seems like a half-hearted measure and I hate it, especially if I want to record something and I don't get the full experience.

I'm very sorry to hear that Bookworm!

:(

*head desk* My whine....GPS system woes.

My mom got me a Mio digiwalker C310x for Christmas last year.

It's an ok system for $200 but it has it's issues like OLD maps (from as early as 2004! :O -which in this area IS OLD because so much has been developed in the last 2 years.)

So mio...after a year of saying they would released their new maps....I was so excited! Finally maps that were accurate!

But wouldn't you know...mio won't accept my device's SN for the upgrade! EVEN THOUGH MY device (complete with serial number!!) is registered on their website!!! I've been to gpspassion and looked to see if anyone else has had this issue and tried the cheats they listed and nothing.

I am so annoyed right now....and OF COURSE Mio tech support is day shift only, not to mention the few times I've had to deal with them I have had to explain myself several times due to the tech speaking little to no English. :?

I should have bought a Garmin.

In fact I am really considering it.

OK thanks for the VENT/RANT!

Anyone else get P.O'ed when technology doesn't work the way it's suppose to?

Yes, continually. Normally I manage to fix it myself, with or without a little help from the net. I find that tech support lines should only ever be used in absolute emergencies, and that you generally know more than they do. Then there's the "Press 1 to...", but I digress. My GPS unit is my tablet pc with software installed on it to do the GPS bit, which means that it's standard tech and that my upgrades are relatively easy. (apart from the fact that the machine has no cd or floppy drive, so I have to load up over my network or with a flashdrive)

That was a very half-hearted rant, and after I next do summat with this DB, I'll have better quality stuff.

Well, yesterday morning was interesting. See, I'd made some chili to bring to work for one of the pot-luck lunches we have on occasion, and I was transporting it there in a crock pot on the floor of my pickup. Thing is, it was very foggy out that morning. It wasn't foggy out the morning before that, or this morning, but it was pea soup yesterday morning. As I was about to pull out of my driveway, I could have sworn I saw someone coming down the road, so I slammed on the brakes, sending 2/3 od the chili all over the floor of my pickup's passenger side. Worse yet, there was nothing coming down the road. Fortunately for me, not far from where I work there's one of those do-it-yourself car washes with a pressure washer, which I used to hose out the passenger side of my pickup. Of course that meant being a half hour late starting work, which also meant staying an extra half hour before I could go home.
