Yeah. Wasn't the internet barely even invented... wait... I seem to remember the year 1983...

It's funny how we think of the internet as being a thing of the 90s because that's when it became popular for everyday. Eeek, now I'm getting unpleasant flashbacks of the AOL dialup busy signal!

Actually, Internet has been around since the early 70's. It was http/html and the web browser that were invented in the early 90's.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention this to everyone:

I actually got argued into watching Shadow Puppets once again by my roommate who hadn't seen it, when I said how bad it was.

The second time around when we weren't all expecting it to be horrible like we were in Vegas, it was actually a little better :D

Saw this online article and thought I'd share: 5 awesome sci-fi inventions (that would actually suck)

And three of them are inherently Trekkian.

Crude language, but good points. Although I'm not entirely sure about replicators being so bad. It makes a kind of utopia, but I don't know if it'd be the end of civilization.

Today I had the tyres of my car changed to winter tires, and of course all the snow is now gone and the temperature is above zero...

KTR, how are your winter tires different from your summer tyres? Are you allowed to use studded tires with metal pegs in them? Or chains on your tyres?

Sorry for jumping around with the spelling, LOL. Too lazy to go back and correct to the same spelling - either way.

Most winter tires have metal or plastic studs in them to help them get a little more grip in snow and ice, but the problem is timing it right when you put them on and take them off. Not only are they annoying as hell to listen to going down the road, but if you run them too long on bare pavement it will wear the studs down, and those studs make winter tires more expensive than regular tires to replace.

Yes, they have pegs in them.

It's not allowed to put those tires on before November 1st. And you have to remove them sometime in the spring (I'll have to check when).

They also do nasty things to the blacktop and/or your driveway. But on ice they can really save your ass. Especially in steep terrain.
