I had a car accident yesterday, which, I know, would be considered a bad new. But I'm alive, and almost unscathed, so that's great news.

I had a lot of luck, actually. It was snowing and I saw a traffic jam several meters before me. I slowly braked, but I guess there was ice on the road, because I lost control from the rear part. Anyway, I took control of the car and stopped in the hard shoulder, without more incident. But like a minute later, when I was starting the engine to drive the car to the main road, I felt a BIG hit from behind. Last thing I'm conscious of, after two minutes recovering from the head pain, is a white car blocking my side's door. And I had to wait until the police and the ambulance come (because the other side was blocked by the crash barrier).

I'm just grateful because my car was parallel to the main road, so the other car hit me from behind. If I didn't took control of the car and it had been in diagonal at that moment... Well, let's say that I wouldn't be writing this.

So I'm happy because I'm alive

Yeah, the ambulance came and two paramedics checked me because I had a headache and I felt a little ditzy. But thankfully I had nothing, and even today I'm all right, my neck hearts a little (but not much) and I had some bruises, but I'm otherwise perfectly healthy. One of the paramedics wanted to drive me to the hospital to take some plates (x-ray film?) of my neck, just to make sure, but I refused because I felt good. Anyway, he told me that if today I felt pain in the neck I should go to the doctor. And aside of a little stiff, but not really much, my neck is right. I mean my cervical doesn't really hurt, it's more like a slight general stiffness. Ah well, and the back of my head is a little sore.

Take the paramedic seriously. Sometimes things don't manifest right away, especially in the adrenaline rush after an accident.

Hopefully, however, you will not end up like Liam Neesen's wife!

Don't worry, Alelou, I heard the warning. If I was worse today I definitively would have gone to the doctor. But I'm right. Promise. I'm not doing the hero here. The health care is absolutely free for me at the moment and even if it wasn't the insurance is paying it, so I don't have any reason not to go if I feel ill.
