Re: Rajin & Similitude
To make matters worse I missed "Minefield" and "Dead Stop" because of vacation. So this is what I came home too. <snif>
But I have to focus on the positive aspects of the tale. Porthos, Phlox, T'Pol, and Hoshi were wonderful. And I give credit where it is do. If I really think about it Acher's whacked out pre-pubescent dreams were rather funny in a pathetic sort of way. But he's supposedly around 45 and has had relationships in the past, so why is he acting like a 12 year old? IT MAKES NO SENSE!

Some of these people haven't taken their medication. Let's see what happens now...

Re: Rajin & Similitude
Did you get to see the missing scenes? Trip has some nice moments dealing with irrational Archer in the middle of the night.
OMG, ANOTHER new chapter! NORTH STAR Chapter 28

Nope! Just saw it on sci-fi channel. Why does she VNP him, or knee him in his over-imaginative groin like the jerk deserves?

Re: Rajin & Similitude
Again thanks to the wonderful chakoteya.net. Though I must say it's not the same when you don't get to see Trip wake up and go to the com in his blue undies.
(This scene won't improve your opinion of Archer but then what would...)
[Deleted scene- Sickbay]
ARCHER: Archer to Commander Tucker. Captain Archer
[Tucker's quarters]
ARCHER [OC]: to Commander Tucker.
TUCKER: (crawls out of bed) Something wrong, Captain?
ARCHER [OC]: Sorry to wake you, Trip, but I need to see you in Sickbay.
TUCKER: Give me a minute.
[Sickbay]
TUCKER: Captain wants to see me.
PHLOX: He's in there.
TUCKER: Sir?
ARCHER: Come on in. (Tucker comes through curtain)
TUCKER: What happened, sir? You look terrible.
ARCHER: I'm fine. It's Porthos who's not doing so well.
TUCKER: I'm sorry to hear it, sir. Is there something I could do?
ARCHER: How long has it been since you've been intimate with a woman?
TUCKER: Excuse me?
ARCHER: Forget it. I'm sorry I woke you up, Trip. I just need some more information on that faulty injector. If we take it offline, try to repair it, what kind of stress will that put on the other four?
TUCKER: It's a matter of time. The longer we have to rely on four injectors, the greater the stress. Problem is, I have no idea how long it would take to repair the one that's malfunctioning.
ARCHER: And if the stress gets too high?
TUCKER: Probably be down to three.
ARCHER: And?
TUCKER: Well, with three injectors, we'd be lucky to reach warp speed.
ARCHER: Go get some sleep.
TUCKER: I had a grade school teacher who was certain I stole a pencil off her desk. I think it was a pencil. She wasn't going to let me go on the field trip to Pensacola unless I apologised. My mother told me I should tell her I was sorry, but I said I didn't steal the damn pencil. You know what she told me? It's okay to apologise when you shouldn't have to, just as long as you don't mean it. (leaves Archer to try and sleep again)

Don't worry I haven't been warned yet. And if you really want to know what I think of that "boy/man" read my author's note in the first chapter of my fic. I HATE HIM!

Re: Rajin & Similitude
No one is going to get warned for not liking a character. As long as debates don't get abusive or personal, I don't think you have anything to worry about.

Re: Rajin & Similitude
It's not necessarily the best 'marketing' move for your fic, though, because people who like the character or at least don't share your hatred for him may stop reading before they even get to the story...

Re: Rajin & Similitude
Meh Maybe but I did say I wasn't going to bash the guy in my story. I mean what I post on the boards isn't necessarily what I'm going to write, so I was just introducing myself. People shouldn't assume anyway, but they do me included. Besides if I don't like something I usually give it a chance sometimes I change my mind sometimes not. Either way live and let live.

Re: Rajin & Similitude
True enough. But generally speaking, long introductions are risky.
Just get right to the story is my advice. When I worked as an editor, almost every manuscript that came in needed to have the first two chapters chopped off. You don't want to do anything that gives your reader a reason to put it down before they get to the meat of what you're trying to do.
Of course, we all tend to have to write our way into something, and we all tend to hate to cut our own work -- which is why working with a good objective editor or beta is a good idea.

Re: Rajin & Similitude
I got one and she's patiently schooling me. Really I am so grateful. I don't really need them anymore, that was my "Hi. How are you? Thanks for reading yes I'm nuts." And Archer isn't the first character in a fandom I've had to put aside complete comtempt for. In my KOTOR fic I have to play nice wit ha character named Bastila Shan. I HATE her, in-game but I'm good at writing her, some of the most hardcore fanboys love what I do to her so I'm not worried.
"Marauders" Is on tonight, maybe it will make up for last night. I hope so.
