Got the marriage certificate, my dress and my bouquet on the same day. I still remember Robert putting my bouquet of roses together with DUCK TAPE in my dad's kitchen. (Southern engineering ingenuity. What can I say? LMAO!) We got married by the JP. My mom (the super ultra-Catholic) was NOT amused, but we'd been engaged for almost 18 months trying to play by HER rules and Robert got tired of it. Our wedding reception was at GOLDEN CORRAL, of all places. And once the staff realized it was a makeshift reception, they were nice enough to whip up a heart-shaped wedding cake.

And speaking of redneck, BnB, my FIL suggested having the reception in his backyard with soy burgers on the grill. He's so CHEAP his shoes squeak! LMAO! Needless to say, we ixnayed the idea.

:)

Our reception was in the parish hall, under a parachute we hung to try to make it look a little more festive. The church ladies cooked and the flowers were supposed to come from one of the parishioner's yards, but the roses hadn't bloomed yet, so they took apart some funeral flowers left over from a couple of days before and put 'em together!

And I was the photographer. (Luckily some other people took pictures too.)

We did hire a folk band, so we could have country dancing -- circles and squares. It was lots of fun.

We got married by a deacon in the tiny Catholic chapel on the local university campus and the reception was at my parents' house. It rained cats and dogs, so we were packed in there like sardines. Fortunately there was no band. Would've been no room to dance anyway. No booze either. (Dad was in recovery less than a year and my hubby's family doesn't drink. Some of my mom's relatives left early because of that, rain and all.)

Food was good, though. Cajun. And we had a creme puff tree (croquant bouche). Yummy.

My first marriage was a blanket marriage, you know, we lived together without making it legal. Second marriage was only 15 years ago and on a harbor cruise boat which was actually an old ferry boat that no longer took cars across the lake. There was room for 154 guests (capacity of boat). We wanted to have the ceremony out on the lake but the officiant was subject to sea sickness, so the ceremony was while the boat was docked. After the officiant left the boat, we went for a two hour reception cruise. The boat owner, Roger Chapman, was a friend of ours and he liked to dress up as a pirate for school kid cruises, and he did this for our wedding too. Roger wanted to borrow my parrot to carry around but Hercule would have been freaked out by so many people, so Hercule stayed home. Hercule still won't let Jim (my husband) pet him.
Working on a major fan fic project. Two-thirds done. Hope to put it up in the not TOO distant future.

*BIG SMILE* I am enjoying all the wedding stories. I am so confused by people who get engaged and then wait a year and a half to get married because they need to put togehter the perfect wedding--rent the perfect church and the perfect hall, and the perfect catorers. Hire the perfect band. And I'm going WHAT???!!!

My wedding cost about $2000 dollars, which is relatively cheap, because it was a big wedding. The dress was about $200.00. I borrowed the veil from my aunt, so it was an antique. Everyone comments on the antique lace veil. That same aunt did the catering for free except the costs of food--some kind of crepes. We used the church were I grew up, so it was free. Our friends did skits and songs at the reception, including a "white rap" our college friends put together and performed. It described how we got together. I will treasure THAT forever. Our honeymoon was . . . this summer in Hawaii, only twenty years late.

If I ever get married, I hope she'll agree to a simple courthouse ceremony so we can waste our money on the honeymoon instead. ;)

Oh I have a happy story: My flowers were silk flowers (jasmine flowers) from K-Mart. (We got together after my husband to be sent me a poem/song he wrote titled, "Jasmine in the Mail" )

Anyway, years later on Mothers Day, I was buying my mother some silk flowers, and my oldest son at the time was 5 was with me and he asked if silk flowers or real flowers were better. I said, "silk flowers" and told him the story above.

So later that day, he says to my mom: I want to get mommie a present for Mothers Day. She goes, what do you want to get her? He goes, jasmine flowers. My mom says that might be hard to find. He goes, no it's not I want to giver her the same flowers daddy gave her at her wedding. They are up in your attic! LOL!

He got credit for being the most thoughtful 5-year-old in the history of the world! LOL

Now I don't want to scare anyone, but last night Baby-scribe and I had to take Jennifer to the hospital, and it doesn't look like she'll be coming home any time real soon...

The baby seems fine, but if we're not careful, she may come poppin' out waaay early!

Anyway, I wasn't going to mention anything, but I know when EK stops posting, people get nervous...

I think I have not to say anything about my wedding. I already posted a very great deal of images, and... well!... enough is as good as a feast!
Well yes. I continue to write. And on Fanfiction.Net, for those who want, it is possible to cast a glance at my latest efforts. We arrived to
The Ears of the Elves, chapter Forty-four

And here is the beginning of the whole story.

But, I must say, you could also find something else on Fanfiction.net written by me. If you want.

 You sound like my husband. He wanted just to elope to Vegas and get married there, but I made it clear that my family would be very unhappy to put it mildly. So we had a low-budget wedding with cityhall and church. I arranged the wedding (you such a good planner, you do the wedding day, I do the honey moon) and he arrange the honey moon. Which was above our budget! :D But was great San Francisco - Hawaii - Washington. At the wedding day lots of things went wrong, so I always joking that the wedding day was a mess, but a least the marriage is great! :D

Yeah, I hope everything turns out alright. Though even if the kid ends up coming a bit early, at least there's been some pretty good advancements in raising the survivability of prematurely born infants. I was a preme myself by a month back in 1982. Hope that isn't something you end up having to deal with though (they'd probably have to put the bun in an artificial oven for a while like they did me). :?
