You're absolutely right to decline, Aquarius and nobody has to right to start cussing, especially when asking a favor. Not a nice thing to experience. Hope he is banned.

Ewwhh!!!! I've got one for you. The journal I work for is called the "Journal of Economic Perspectives." Lots of people mistake the word "Perspectives" for "wild and crazy ideas" or "anything goes." So every once in a while we will get an email like, "Hey, I've got an idea! What if the United States did away with money and we gave the job of dividing up goods to the school board?" (actual example). Also, economists who go senile write to us alot. So one day, about a month ago, I got one of these type of emails--actually a set of four--written in all capital letters, almost indistiguishable from spam except that one of them was about the recent financial crisis. I turned them down immediately, which enraged the guy, who asked, "Are you an ALIEN OUT OF EARTH to be able to turn down four proposals in NO TIME?" and he demanded that we review them. I wrote back to him like two more times explaining we were under no obligation to review his proposals. Goodbye.

Two days later, I get an email from him: "I can sense your anger. And I LIKE IT! Please do not stop corresponding with me." LOL . . . .

CREEPIEST ECONOMIST ON EARTH AWARD, lol . . . Made a nice spam filter for him.

Precisely. I mean, who among us hasn't fantasized about being with a model or actor or famous athlete? I think that's just a normal part of human nature, and is perfectly healthy...

...unless it crosses the line into the creepy. Honestly, I can't think of too many real-people fic premises that a celebrity would be okay with let alone be genuinely flattered by. I suppose it could be done...but I wouldn't want to risk it.

jT--That's hilarous...and creepy!! :guffaw:

Reminds me that I need to test the supposed mildew removal stuff I bought at the co-op, since my normal go-to for that (bleach) would ruin my off-white curtains.)

The mildew stuff I got at my co-op last year worked quite well on my old bathmat which is now a chihuahua bed.

Aquarius, people do show their psycho side online sometimes. Sounds like you hit a nerve. Everyone has the right to not wish to write something - and real people fics make me uncomfortably as well.

Thankfully, emails can be blocked, and as you said, people can be reported.

Looks like the freak that was bugging me yesterday ended up getting banned from the Yahoo group. Either he was bothering someone else, or he mouthed off to the listmom when she warned him over the incident with me. At any rate, he's gone. Either he was there to troll in the first place, or he's imbalanced and likely to be bad company any way.

Good riddance.

My father has been home for less than 12 hours, returning for a brief visit from his contracting job, and already I'm going insane. There is nothing quite like being submitted to a lecture five min after you get up in the morning about how you've not been pulling your weight around the house when you are the one doing the vast majority of the shopping, cleaning, cooking, and general house-upkeep while he's gone and your mom works all day. Add this to the almost-monthly arguement of "Why haven't you found a job yet?" "No one's hiring," and you get for one wonderful blowup that results in me banished to weeding the yard, because it's not like I have anything else to do. Now, granted, I don't, not really, but every arguement I have with him ends with him throwing everything he's done for me in my face (nevermind he's my father, and a certain amount of paternal care is expected) when he knows full well that, if I could, I'd move...

*sigh* I dunno. Maybe I'm just being ungreatful, but it just for once I'd like to have a day with my father without him accusing me of being lazy, ungreatful, or otherwise unworthy of living in his house.

I feel a little better after letting this out though, so that's something... and he'll be redeploying monday, so....

Okay - now it's hot again. It is supposed to reach 100 today. My poor old Chihuahua - who normally loves hot weather - is a lump and doesn't want to go out. And my foster kitten (who will be adopted as soon as he makes weight) is lethargic.

It's just. . .boiling.

Cute pic, aadarhshinah. I'm sorry to hear about your living situation. That sounds excruciating.

Honeybee, HOT is triple digits for months. It hits 110 and occasional 120 here. This heat lasts until end of September or early October. Constant triple digit during the day and upper 80's and low 90's at night. At least you can look forward to the heat wave breaking. Ee cannot. That and I HATE air conditioning.

True, but it's a dry heat, right?

Yup, very dry, will draw te fluids right out of a person. That is why everyone carries a bottle of water with them at all times. Have to stay hydrated. Dry or not, uncomfortable as all get out. Going from a building through a parking lot to the car, get in start car and turn on Air conditioning. Always good for a cold or some other resperatory problem.

But my wife wanted to live in Arizona so here we are.

They say Arizona is a good place to live if you have allergies. Sounds like all the pollen just gets incinerated. 8)
