This one has no romance in it at all OK folks. I know shocking but really Trip needs some time to do his job. He is the Chief Engineer, and as we all know from Scotty, Geordie, Miles O'Brian, and B'Elanna, sometimes it puts a dent in your love life. Then again without the Chief the ship Explodes and everyone dies, really its a more important job than the Captain. Dinah pointed this out wonderfully in "The Thorn And The Rose." So get to work Trip, T'Pol can wait...

A blasted mess! That was the only way to describe Engineering right now, some aliens that Trip Tucker hadn't met, had tried to wipe Enterprise out of space, for some offense that Trip wasn't aware of. Not that it mattered anyway, he was still the one who had to fix up the mess. Oh and there was the small fact his Captain wanted it done in three days. Sometimes Trip was certain that his friend knew nothing about ships except how to fly them. He often wondered why that was, after all his father was Henry Archer for God's sake! Next to Zephrem Cochrane the greatest engineer to ever live. But Jon wanted the impossible so that's what he would deliver. Thank God T'Pol found a nice moon with an atmosphere that would hid them from the bad guy's sensors. Whoever the bad guys were? He'd have to find out later after the repairs were done. 'They just had to fry all of my manifolds didn't they!?'He thought bitterly. He also had to find out what Jon did to set these people off. True sometimes bad guys came after them for no reason. But T'Pol had said that Vulcans had dealt with every race in this stretch of space and there had been no conflicts. He trusted her when she said a species wasn't hostile. Terrorists on that one planet aside. A loud crash and sparks interrupted his musings.

"What's going on Mike?" he yelled.

"Sir one of the EPS conduits just blew and the forward injectors are shot." Rostov yelled back over the noise.

Trip bit back a curse. "Mike take care of the conduit."

"Aye Sir!"

"Where is Hess?" He demanded.

"Here Sir!" Yelled a young woman.

"Sue, take Kelly and Armstrong, and get to those injectors. Rip them out if you have too but get them done by end-of-shift."

"Aye Sir."

No doubt about it whenever things got destroyed around here, Jon wanted miracles. Good thing Trip liked his job, and when he didn't there was always pie. And although he'd never tell Jon ANYTHING was better than water polo.

Hey I do the same thing only I use chocolate. But really water polo? I'm no fan of football, but I'd sit through football before water polo any day! Personally I prefer pool. Yeah If I had to choose between Trip Tucker and Tom Paris I'd have to chose Tom... Loved him first and longest, still do. Besides I'm half Italian/Irish with French thrown in logic is rarely in my vocabulary. But still it's amazing how similar Vulcans and Klingons are. They have the same emotional make-up but entirely different belief systems. ANd yet the core values are almost identical.

I always like stories about Trip being an engineer and he is absolutely right about water polo. Nice to see you writing all kind of stories, Warpgirl. Way to go!
