Oh Asso I might be too literal, but I'm also sarcastic. That was s-a-r-c-a-s-a-m. I find it helps me deal with conversations where I take things too literally.

OK so, I'm looking for ideas for a wedding rings. Yeah yeah I know Vulcans don't wear them, but I've got an idea that if you're married to a human, and you're not an ambassador, a Vulcan girl might wear one. Two ideas have been floating through my brain...

1. Celtic Love Knot

2. Claddagh Rings

The reasons for this are, I like the idea that Trip has an Irish heritage; and Vulcans love geometric designs in their jewelry anyway. Of course if anyone has any idea for plain old presents ie: just because, anniverseries, honey I screwed up and I am so sorry I will never nearly die on an away mission ever again... Those Ideas are welcome too.

Honestly, what I always pictured were simple bands, with inscriptions inside--each other's names or something like that. For some reason I've never defined, I just figured that they'd go for something inconspicuous and non-fussy, I guess.

I like your ideas, though, for something fancier but still not overdone.

Truthfully I wasn't thinking in terms of fancy or flashy. Astetically traditional Vulcan Jewelry is very consipicuous. T'Pol's IDIC is HUGE! So I think in Vulcan terms ANYTHING human would be simple. And of course, on a ship things have to be practical. Also the rings can't be readily identifyable as wedding bands. And yes if I use a claddagh ring I will make sure they aren't obvious. But fancy was something I never considered.

You hit on something there: where they are in their lives is going to make a difference. You mentioned things needing to be practical on the ship, and not readily identifiable...in the "Aquarium" they're dirtside when they're married, so they have nothing to hide. From my own standpoint, I think I was just seeing it as a "beauty in simplicity" thing, neither of them being the type of people to measure their love by the size of the rock on her finger, as I see so many real-life couples do.

If I remember right, Sarek wore many huge jewels on one of his ambassadorial robes - many garish colors, asemetrically shaped, HUGE stones. Must have weighed a ton. So I don't think Vulcans are above vulgar display at times.
