It's like malaria parasites, multiplying and multiplying inside their little host blood cells until they explode all at once and give the patient a fever precisely every 48 hours. We fanfic writers type and type our little fingers off and wring out our brains until it all just EXPLODES all at once in a fever of fanfics. Then there's a resting period while we recover until it's time to do it all over again. And why, like the tiny malarial parasite, do we do it all at the same time and EXPLODE all at once?

It's a mystery of the universe. 8)

It coincides pretty closely with school and work schedules, had you noticed? The weather patterns also have an effect. Seasonal variations, phases of the moon, stuff like that. :)

Perhaps I am slightly risking again, but the problem is NOT to stock up on sanitary napkins! The problem is the behaviours' synchronization! In this case, a male chief has to be sliding alongside the walls! And I can assure you this is NOT a common place! :(
