I got mostly what I wanted, but it's a little more focused on my minor than I'd like, since that's the only way I could make things work. After next fall it'll be different; I'll be done with the Gen Ed stuff, and I have to check but I should be done with my minor as well, or at least only one more class to go. So, from Winter 2011 on, I can focus exclusively on my majors.

As of now, I'll be taking Statistics, Psychology of Religion, Behavior Modification, Intro to Directing (TV), and Native American Literature.

Fun!

Hmmm . . . So you minor is TV evangelism? :)

Took the Grandkids to an Ostrich Farm. There they got to feed Deer, goats, Miniture Donkeys, of course, the Ostriches and lastly in an Enclosre where there were Parakeets. Buy some Nectar and open the cup, hold out your hand with arm extended and birds will land on your hand and Arm and drink the Nectar. Early in the Morning when they are still hungry three or four will fight over the Nectar while on your hand. After the cup is empty they will give a little nip to the hand as a broad hint to get more Nectar. Kids loved it. Grandpa kinda liked it too

I got my new laptop today, and a wireless modem, so I'm typing this from that. It will take a while getting used to, since I've never actually owned a laptop before. But it's a nice new machine, with greater capacity and memory than my current desktop.

Well, I'm not sure if this is good news or bad news so I'm announcing this as randomness. Hawaiian summer school is cancelled. You know that deal that seemed too good to be true? Well, as it turns out . . .

I don't feel bad. It was panic time for lesson planning and it began to dawn on me that even if I was in Hawaii, I wasn't going to be able to relax. On the plus side, I have relearned all I once know about microecomics. (I taught it 20-some years ago) and have learned about all these new-fangled teaching resources and PowerPoint. And they will try again to have this next year. Ahh . . now what??? What do I do now??? I could even go to the Texas Star Party . . .

I know . . . this actually makes it worse for going to Vegas. I was thinking of treating myself and going to Vegas with all the money I would make in Hawaii. Hmm . . . You only live once!

Aww, that's too bad. And not very fair when you've already put work into it.

At least your boss is in the same boat, so he'll understand, right?

Yep, he's in the same boat and he warned me this might happen. Everything's fine. Maybe next year, and we'll have more time to prepare.

I think I've mentioned that I was planning on going to Florida to try and see a space shuttle launch in May. Well, I've now booked flights and hotel for my Florida-Orlando trip. I depart on May 12th and go back on the 19th (arrive back home the day after that). The scheduled shuttle launch is on the 14th, so even if it gets postponed I may get a chance to see it anyway.

The trip will take a long time. Almost 22 hours there and 17 hrs on the return trip. That's because there are some lengthier stops in Stockholm, Chicago, D.C. and Copenhagen. Oh well, I had expected that.

I get to stay at a relatively cheap hotel, but it sounds nice from the descriptions. It's close to Universal studios and some online site said they had free bus rides to Disney World.

Now I have to find out the best way to get to Kennedy Space Center. I suppose there are a number of bus rides from the major hotels. Then I'll have to contact the embassy and see if I can't get a press pass for the launch. And I'll probably return to KSC on another day too, since all the tours and exhibitions are closed on launch day.

Other than that I want to see Disney World/Epcot and the Universal attractions. Maybe Sea World too. But it's a shame that the Harry Potter park won't be open yet. Anyone got any more recommendations?
