I think I've mentioned that I was planning on going to Florida to try and see a space shuttle launch in May. Well, I've now booked flights and hotel for my Florida-Orlando trip. I depart on May 12th and go back on the 19th (arrive back home the day after that). The scheduled shuttle launch is on the 14th, so even if it gets postponed I may get a chance to see it anyway.
The trip will take a long time. Almost 22 hours there and 17 hrs on the return trip. That's because there are some lengthier stops in Stockholm, Chicago, D.C. and Copenhagen. Oh well, I had expected that.
I get to stay at a relatively cheap hotel, but it sounds nice from the descriptions. It's close to Universal studios and some online site said they had free bus rides to Disney World.
Now I have to find out the best way to get to Kennedy Space Center. I suppose there are a number of bus rides from the major hotels. Then I'll have to contact the embassy and see if I can't get a press pass for the launch. And I'll probably return to KSC on another day too, since all the tours and exhibitions are closed on launch day.
Other than that I want to see Disney World/Epcot and the Universal attractions. Maybe Sea World too. But it's a shame that the Harry Potter park won't be open yet. Anyone got any more recommendations?
