Eeeeewwww, ewwww, ewww. Nasty mental images here!!!!!
Moving on...
enterprikayak, my sincerest best wishes for your poor sister. Distracted might be onto something, though-- some of the people that I know with the worst wedding stories have had the best marriages, so hopefully good karma will shine down on her and her fiance!
Plus, it's a great story to tell the grandkids (just... prettied up slightly with the haze of time)

So were gona pick our Extra corn, an grind/mill it ourselves. In fact Im even explorin the Idea of expandin acreage just for this reason, next season.
Have you considered letting the cows go for a couple of years, and just raising corn until the price drops? Sounds like you might be able to clear more money feeding other people's cows. Then, when the price of corn gets back to something halfway reasonable, you would already be set up with everything you need to feed your own herd yourself.
Course, I am not a farmer. Take my free idea for exactly what it is worth.
In fact, forget I said anything. I will shut up. I have spent too many hours listening to old men sit around the stove whittling.

I like, love farming in a more Old fashioned way, the Right way.

Cows are High now, an short of a certin border being fully opened up again, they wont be getting lower anytime soon. So selling out, with the intent to start up later dosnt seem like a good Idea to me right now. Besides Im trying to expand, not shrink the herd.
Its just the same old, same old. Grow, adapt, or Die.
In this case a lil more Ol fhashioned thinkin is a good thing.
BTW: ramble on all ya want. I think listening to the Ramblings of more life experanced folks is the 2nd best way to learn.
TnT I love em.

It seems to me that the kind of corn they use isn't good for eating, because it didn't look - well, like corn is supposed to look, but the stalks were really tall. But I guess that while getting $5-8 a person (I've been to 2 this year, one cheaper than the other) these farmers don't mind so much. I enjoyed myself anyway. This weekend I took an exchange student from South Korea and we had a great time. We picked our own apples and decorative gourds, too.Mitchell wrote:Back to the Maze's. Ive never actualy been to one.
Cause Id just start cussin at the stupidity of the thing. All the Corn that was wasted to cut the pattern into the field.

Re: The Happy News thread
the corn in our maze was for cows apparantly. the maze is better every year. except one year he got an "official" maze designer in from San Fran and it SUCKED, the years the guys do it themselves it's better.

I think you've closed the barn door a few days too late to keep the horses in, justTrip'n.

Re: The Happy News thread
Yeah, well . . . . I've been a little busy lately! But LET THAT BE A LESSON FOR NEXT TIME!
Anyway, happy news:
T'Sara came to visit!!! She came out for a star party. We had a great time and even had CLEAR SKIES!!! T'Sara will now back me up that Pittsburgh is green and beautiful, and astronomy is COOL!
My husband has now met two of my online friends and putting that together with the rave reviews of his best friend who attended the last convention with us, he's going to have to stop teasing me about my Trekkie friends. They all turn out to be perfectly normal. (Of course we are grading on a curve here. My husband spends his free time writing comic book
)
Seriously, T'Sara is great! I really enjoyed meeting yet another kindred sprit.

Well, jusTrip'n, we met at Vulkon, and that will be two years ago this coming March. Love to see you again at a convention or if either of us is passing through home territory! We have lots of room in our house. Love to see other people who hang out at this site! Next year won't be a big convention year for us, darn. Got two weddings coming up in the summer that we have to travel for.
Working on a major fan fic project. Two-thirds done. Hope to put it up in the not TOO distant future.

Yes...I had a great time and a nice visit!
Hopefully we can do it again sometime.
I still want to have a Trek Party if you guys come for Shoreleave.
I am REALLY hoping that Conner or another ENT star will come for it this year.

Re: The Happy News thread
The gift shop that sells my earrings recently bought 5 of my necklaces. I went down there yesterday and saw that my work has been given it's own case. Black velvet, nice lighting, the works.

It's flavored with passionfruit
an appropriate ingredient, don't you think?
