 Not the spin yet, just the spiral position, and an adult bielmann/chinese spiral, at that (there's a wide belief that if the judges will count it, we'll take it. :D Kinda like my squat (rather than sit) spin). Unfortunately, I don't have that nice hyper-flexible back that all of those little 14 year olds have :? . So, I don't think I deserve the bowing emoticon... yet. :D

Thanks for the... uhm... kind comments, KTR and Asso. I think. Hmm...

Y'all have seen the good ones... not the ones of me trying to ignore the big strand of hair that got stuck in my face right at the beginning of the program or of me landing flat on my bottom! I guess those would go in a comical pics thread.

Hon, the fact that you're going for it is worth major kudos. I can't even roller skate, okay? Highland dancing was tough enough. (turnout! turnout!) Oh-- I saw that video of the skaters doing pas-de-bas on ice. Fabulous!

Hopeful Romantic also does Highland dancing? (I mean also like T'Sara.) Last week I went to a bagpipe festival and watched Highland dancing. A really BIG concert at Carnegie Music Hall in Pittsburgh. Like 20 pipers on one stage with like 10 drums. :) Bagpipes and Highland dancing appeal to me, mabye because of my ethnicity.

^I seem to remember her saying she did.

I'll have to post pictures of dance here eventually.

OK, I can't compete with Emberchyld, but I'll try. Here's the only picture of me on the ice. It's a picture taken for the college yearbook from a zillion years ago. I'm the one farthest from the puck.

Image

This was intramural ice hockey. Our team was mostly Americans and we played teams that were mostly Canadians, so we were the underdogs. I only ever scored one goal. I was on the bench and everyone was at the other end of the rink from me. Someone came off so I could get on and the puck flew out my way. I grabbed it and went one-on-one with the goalie, thinking "Please let this be the right goal." The opportunity seem too good to be true, so I could just imagine the embarrassment of me scoring on our own goal. But it was the other team! YEAH, we didn't stink as much as usual that night.

We always played in the middle of the night, like one in the morning. Good times.

I danced for several years back in high school/college. My high school had a Scottish theme, so a pipe and drum corps and a dozen Highland dancers were part of the band. We did exhibition performances and parades and such. And I also danced competitively at Highland games for a few years. I loved it. Well, except for the shin splints.

T'Sara, what tartan do you wear? Mine was Dress Culloden. (Purple, natch. Favorite color. :D )

Such a pretty Tartan.

That's the one! I saw a bolt of that tartan fabric at a Scottish imports shop downtown, and it was love at first sight. :D I wore it with a black vest for competition, but I made a purple vest and jacket to wear with the band.

I wear the Dress Milne Red.

That's me!

Wow, you look terrific in red! The dress tartans are all so lovely.

I nosed around a bit in your dance forum. Brings back a lot of nice memories. :) The videos especially.

Nuh-uh, you're just wearing a baggy shirt and not, you know, emaciated (still can't imagine they actually put that on a casting notice.) Other that the baby looking entirely unrealistic, it was good. But I like sound myself.

Arghh! You're young with your whole life ahead of you. Talking this way will drag you down (and annoy people) *grumble grumble* STOP. Most of the rest of us could complain about our looks with more right, but we don't. Believe in yourself . . . pretty, cute girl.
