What have we learned from the T'nT sites?
I got a little frustrated in a previous discussion. Sometimes it seems like we argue with each other all day, all this airing of infinite diversity, and it never changes anything, so I decided to turn things around.
What have you LEARNED from this site? Specifically from the airing of stories and opinions?
I'll go first.
I learned something about the Second Amendment (to the U.S. Constitution--right to bear arms) and how strongly held peoples feelings on it are. Contrary to the gun control side (my side), I now suspect the original intent of that amendment likely was "a right to bear arms" even apart about the "well-ordered militia."
I learned that men are people too. Of course I already knew that, but after reading some of the rip-your-heart-out stories on this site written by men, I'm not going to forget it, no matter how rough and gruff and untalkative some of you men might be.
I learned a few details about um . . . the NC-17 aspect of life.
I learned that I'm "normal" that is, when I write about my experience through my stories, some people get it. And I "get" what they are doing. That's very conforting.
Anyone else?

Uhmm, I too tested the 'waters' of NC17 with my toe and found it likeable, but I still would not go there very often. There is a difference between pornography and errotica. When I was growing up, there only seemed to be pornography, meaning using sex as exploitation and the general opinion at the time was that it was only for men. It is so liberating to find stories that use sex as an expression of love.
I am more of a peacemaker, but violence is a part of life sometimes. I am learning to show it in my stories when appropriate, while avoiding gratuitous violence. It has to have a valid purpose in the story.
I found that I like to read and write humor.

Working on a major fan fic project. Two-thirds done. Hope to put it up in the not TOO distant future.

I am reaffirming my lifelong realization that women are inherently incomprehensible.

I learned that I should expect my husband to treat me with the same respect and love that Trip shows T'Pol.

I learned that you should avoid discussing politics on them because it can get you banned.

OK then. I learned that there really are people in the world warped enough to enjoy reading my gibbering.
P.S. My new sig isn't showing up. What am I doing wrong?

I learnt I was not alone, and there were like minded people on various points of this beautiful earth that saw the same things, and interpreted them the same way as I did!
Yay!
