Flintlock season opened up here yesterday. :) Not that I hunt this season though, those guns are just to much trouble to hunt with IMO.

8) I was kiddin Elessar.
Id say the 303 was one of the 3 WWI cartridges. Along with the 8mm Mauser, an Ofcourse My fav the 30-06 springfield.

A 300 Win. :? Ive known guys to hunt Whitetails with any one of the umpteen different 300s out there.
Ive personaly seen the result one year of what a 300 wheatherby can do to a Deer when they are shot in the butt. :? Oddly enough very lil meat was damaged, but the skull was a lost cause.

Yeah. I hear the exit holes are crater-sized. If someone actually shot a deer in a vital area it might ruin the whole opposite shoulder...not to mention the tree BEHIND the deer and anything else that might be there. I hope Elessar's target has some stopping power.

  Id really like to know what people are thinkin when they go Deer hunting with these Ultra Highpowered Rifles.
My one neighbor uses a 7mm Rem to deer hunt, an he once shot a deer from 300 yds in the rear to, it had blown a chuck off the hind quarter.

Heck I think my 30-06 is more then enough, since it basicaly disnigrated two vertabra on one buck I shot years ago.

On a more cheerful note (and to get this thread back on topic... Sorry! :? ) Here's a picture of me and my girls at the Nassau airport.

Ok, well, this is gonna be embarassing but...

I had a blast shooting my bro's .300 winmag, but uh, I kinda learned somethin... I'm a good marksman, I did pretty well, but I made a mistake and learned somethin that this picture should explain:

*sigh*... my very own idiot cut.

It was the very first time I'd fired a rifle and fired a rifle prone!

Oh, boy! What fun! 8)

This, among other things, is why my shooting is limited to skeet shooting with a 20 gauge shotgun. I dislike recoil. It hurts. I leave the rifle shooting to my daughter.

Look up. See the teenager up there with the pirate t-shirt on? The girl took down a blue wildebeest, a couple of springbok and a kudu. One shot apiece. Dropped in their tracks. She was two months short of 13 at the time. Here's proof.

See, Elessar? All it takes is practice. And pull your face back from the stock a little.

I have to say, that skull t-shirt and Pooh are an interesting combination. However, you're never too old for Pooh! :D Your youngest looks a lot like your husband, doesn't she?

Yeah, also I noticed that..
Well yes. I continue to write. And on Fanfiction.Net, for those who want, it is possible to cast a glance at my latest efforts. We arrived to
The Ears of the Elves, chapter Forty-four

And here is the beginning of the whole story.

But, I must say, you could also find something else on Fanfiction.net written by me. If you want.

I think she doesn't have to be self-conscious at all about her age. She looks at least as good as some of those celebrities that have personal trainers and the like to keep in shape, so she must take good care of herself. :)

I CAN SHOOT! Hell, on the shot that cut my eyebrow open I hit the bullseye :)

We're goin back out tomorrow... Might wanna pray for me, if it's your custom . I'd like to try and fall further back. That cartridge is supposed to have a maximum effective range of 1210 yards but I'm not sure how good my brother's optics are. We'll see.

CX,

One reason the Enfield is so smooth is that it cocks on closing, so you are not trying to cock the bolt while opening the action to eject the expended round. The Enfield can be fired more rapidly with training than any other bolt action. The Australians (always dong their own thing) practiced short range snap shooting with them where the hand never left the bolt handle and they fired the weapon with the little finger. Accuracy was not that good but at short range the rate of fire was devastating - German troops thought at times they were facing a machine gun when it was really only a couple of riflemen. If you are missing any pieces, e-gunparts.com may have them. If I have bored you I apologize. It's one heck of a fun and useful rifle.

I have not yet gotten the eyebrow cut, but I have knocked out a glasses lens, much to the amusement of the people with me.

I was actually wearing those 'safety glasses' that have the yellow tint... but they didn't help me, heh.

Yes. My middle child is a walking contradiction. She does it on purpose, I think... just to keep us all confused. 8)

And if you think my youngest looks like my husband, you should see my son. We'll never be able to disown him, because people who know my husband recognize my son on sight despite his slimmer build. It was even worse for my husband and HIS father, since they not only had the same coloring and facial features but were also built the same. My husband looks like a virtual clone of his late father. Hopefully not in all ways since the man died entirely too young for my peace of mind. :(
