Re: Mother's Day Filk
It's just a parody of a famous children's book, although I have heard it was recorded as a song. Some mothers can recite Good Night Moon by heart even now that their kids are teenagers because they read it every night for years. I guess I was thinking of the story in which T'Pol reads Green Eggs and Ham to little Lizzie.
I found this quote while researching filk:
He who sings prays twice.
-- St. Thomas Aquinas
St. Thomas Aquinas never heard William Shatner sing "Rocket Man."
-- Jane Mailander

It's flavored with passionfruit
an appropriate ingredient, don't you think?

Ever heard Sting singing Dowland?

Re: Filk challenge
I see I've dated myself again.
Sting was the lead singer for The Police. 1980's. Very distinctive voice. Dowland was a big songwriter in Elizabethan England.

Wow!
You sure have this filk stuff down. Ah, Farscape, how I miss it.
Hey! I got promoted!

Re: Filk challenge
Cool! Does it come with more money? I got "promoted", too...but I didn't get a raise. So basically all it means is more work for the same salary. Joy.
Very poetically nasty little poem, there, T'Poptarts.
I think Sting has a very nice voice. I have the album "Fields of Gold", which is a solo album after he left "The Police". It's virtually all slow stuff, and very beautiful. Speaking of which...anybody want to do a filk to "Every Move You Make" from Trip's POV after Home? Might be kinda cool.

Yeah, I have trouble cutting loose like that. And that's one of the nastiest pics of Scorpy I've ever seen. Goes really well with the lyric.
And I agree Sting has a wonderful voice - I loved Feilds of Gold - but when you here the voice from Every Move You make singing Dowland...

I'll take your word for it.
Slightly off topic, but not too far, I understand there's a filk called "Overflowing Catbox Blues"
Does anyone know it?

"Now, you oughta know, when a cat's gotta go, that you owe her a spotless commode.
Why should I squat at this same soggy spot right on top of three weeks' worth of loads?
Really, if I were a grouch, I'd have pissed on the couch... but instead, I have pissed in your shoes.
I've got the Nobody-Loves-Me, Nobody-Feeds-Me, Overflowing-Catbox Blues!"
