Advice?
Requirements:
Cheap.
At least 19 inches, preferably larger since me and my wife are both hard of seeing.
Fairly Cheap.
LED would be nice if I can get a clear one for cheap. If not, at least a flat screen CRT.
As Cheap as possible. We is poor.
Solid name brand. I have had it with off brand crap.
I want something that would work for gaming, since my son is into that (of course) and I am not above indulging sometimes myself. Doesn't have to be too fancy though.
Not too expensive.
And of course, easy on the pocketbook.
Anyone have a suggestion or three?

Re: Need a new monitor
I agree.
Well yes. I continue to write. And on Fanfiction.Net, for those who want, it is possible to cast a glance at my latest efforts. We arrived to
The Ears of the Elves, chapter Forty-four
And here is the beginning of the whole story.

But, I must say, you could also find something else on Fanfiction.net written by me. If you want.

Re: Need a new monitor
One of the best monitors I've used is the Samsung Syncmaster 910T. Highly Recommended

Re: Need a new monitor
I have a new HP LCD and I find it amazingly crisp. I wish our TV was this good.
I'd just keep an eye out on the sales at Office Max and Home Depot or wherever and move quickly on Sunday morning when their loss leaders go on sale, before the two or three they actually have in stock are sold.

OMG, ANOTHER new chapter! NORTH STAR Chapter 28

Well, the only way you're going to find a brand name that isn't expensive is just looking and looking and looking and looking
on places like newegg.com, tigerdirect.com and zipzoomfly.com. They have specials and sales pretty often, but I am going to ballpark that to get a middle-to-lower end brand name like Acer, 19" performance LCD monitor (performance if it's going to be used for gaming - i.e., high contrast ratio and low pixel response time), is going to run you about $175-$190. If you want to go up to 20, probably $225. Same way, if you want to go up to a brand like Sony, but in 19, it's probably going to run about $200-$250 and up.
See like here's a 19" "Hanns" (heard of it, never had one), for $169: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6824254030
here's a 20" Acer for $200: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6824009108
And a 22" Samsung for $279: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6824001262
I got a 20" Sceptre b/c it was really cheap and it's been finicky as hell. Also pay attention to whether you currently have a widescreen monitor or not and if you get one, just know that there's a difference so you aren't surprised when you pull it out of the box. When I first got my widescreen monitor I was so weirded out by it, but now when I see a regular box format monitor I just cringe. I'm soooo married to widescreen now
