But yes, he's right. Actually though, I could have clarified that when I do purchase the Dan Wesson 10mm , I intend to sell my .45 -- both of which are "large caliber man stopping" guns, so I wouldn't really have two anymore anyway.

Don't sell it off immediately. Cheap .45 ammo is a lot easier to find than cheap 10MM. 10MM is a great round though. High performance. You will need to change out the recoil spring every 2 or 3 thousand rounds, which you really don't have to do with a .45. Also there is a 10MM forum http://www.10mmtalk.com/

If you get the 2.5" barrel .500, let me come watch you fire the first round. :D I'll even supply the ammo.

I have shot (but do NOT own) the four inch. Accurate but way, way more than a handful.

Have you ever been to the big gun show in Tulsa?

BTW, personal experience on clothes - when I left active duty, I would come to a dead stop in front of the closet in the mornings trying to figure out what to wear. Previous to that, it was SO simple.

I bet!

No I've never been to any gun shows. I'd really like to. I know there's a few around here every now and then, I see billboards and stuff, I just lose track. Pretty busy.

I bet the .500's pretty punishing. I know that in like a 10" barrel w/ a compensator people still complain about it being hella powerful. You see big guys' hands go flying back and women, well, they just get knocked over  . So, a .500 that's lighter, and shorter barrel, is probably going to just kick like a friggin mule. I want one just so that if you need to use it, that SOB is goin down. I read about a guy using one to take down a polar bear w/ one shot in the neck

Thanks for the site, I'l have to check it out. I think I will get another .45, just not mine.

Mine's not bad, I just want to explore another model. Maybe a glock, maybe a kimber, maybe a smaller compact, I don't know yet.

Interesting comparison with shoes. My first thought was, "But a collection of shoes is so much more practical and useful! But, I can see how maybe a man wouldn't see it that way...

This here is my darling precious little pet :)

I read him a bedtime story, feed him his gun oil and tuck him him into bed in his snug little steel cabinet every night.

Between this and the pregnancy discussion, seems like this board is all about contrasts between wild-eyed, under-insured American cowboys and the rest of the world.

Well, doesn't it usually happen when any North American talk with anybody of any other country?

Yes, but not having hung around any boards before I find it kind of amazing that such a polyglot discussion is actually going on right here on my desk. To me this is pretty wild stuff! The world really is getting smaller. (Though this is certainly only made possible by the impressive English fluency of all the non-native English speakers.)

Absolutely right!

Well yes. I continue to write. And on Fanfiction.Net, for those who want, it is possible to cast a glance at my latest efforts. We arrived to
The Ears of the Elves, chapter Forty-four

And here is the beginning of the whole story.

But, I must say, you could also find something else on Fanfiction.net written by me. If you want.

Cowboy? Not hardly. I do well to stay on top of a plow horse. No calf roping or bronco busting for me, thank you.

And as far as being wild-eyed - I will have you know that I took my medication today. My wife insists on it. So there.

There's a good husband! Maybe the happy gun parents aren't married yet, that's all.

Uh, no guns are allowed in my house. Pepper spray, yes. I realize there are some gun fanciers on this site, so I hope I am not offending them, but we had a suicide in my cousin's family of a twenty year old young man who was depressed. The gun was just to easy to find and use in a moment of severe depression. So I am rather sensitive on the subject of guns. Of course other families may be better able to responsibly handle guns, so I am not saying other people should not have guns in their homes. But I just can't do it.
Working on a major fan fic project. Two-thirds done. Hope to put it up in the not TOO distant future.

You have every right to draw that line within your own home Linda. No one has the authority to force you to own a gun, just as no one has the authority to tell me I can't own one. It is a matter of individual right, and individual choice. And as a gun owner, I am not offended in the least if you choose not to own a gun.
