Cougar on the loose shot, killed

CHICAGO (KABC) -- There was chaos in Chicago as police shot and killed a cougar in a residential area on the city's northside.

The cougar was first spotted early Monday morning, but when animal control officials searched the area they couldn't find it.

Some residents walked around carrying baseball bats, just in case.

Hours later, the big cat emerged from underneath a porch. Officers chased it down an alley and eventually opened fire, killing it.

"The animal's very excited, it's disturbed, it's scared. It could have attacked a person if it was cornered," said Cmdr. John Kenny of the Chicago Police Department.

Officers said there was no time to find a tranquilizer gun. It was unclear where the 150-pound cougar came from, but they don't think it's the same one that was seen in the northern suburbs over the weekend. (emphasis added)

Note, Chicago is one of, if not THE, most densely populated cities in the US.

Yeah, we have mountain lion sightings around here and sometimes it makes me feel kind of freaked out when I'm working in the garden that backs into the woods. It's so comforting to know they always attack from behind and start by crushing a vertebra in your neck...
OMG, ANOTHER new chapter! NORTH STAR Chapter 28

Yeah, creepy.

Do you still have bears on your side of the mountains Escriba?

I'm very fortunate that in my own wilderness, the only wild animal is the Homo touristicus , commonly known as tourist. :)

Yes, we have bears, but very few. They're protected, of course, because in this moment Humans are more dangerous for them than they for Humans.

And don't underestimate the Homo touristicus. Tourists can damage the environment greatly :D

Ah Ah!
But this homo is welcome, isn't he?
Well yes. I continue to write. And on Fanfiction.Net, for those who want, it is possible to cast a glance at my latest efforts. We arrived to
The Ears of the Elves, chapter Forty-four

And here is the beginning of the whole story.

But, I must say, you could also find something else on Fanfiction.net written by me. If you want.

He is welcome in small groups, but at the time of the great migrations (winter and summer) the hords of homo touristicus can be worse than the plagues of Egypt all put together.

Nope! They (men and women) always make me think that I'd gladly endure Malcolm's "Reed Alert" for hours than listening to them complaining because there was one tiny cloud in their sky and they paid for blue sky and sun. Maybe they should take a leave on Vulcan if they want sun and on Andoria if they want snow.

Heheee... at least we don't have that problem here. Just the tourists wanting to have lunch at 4 p.m. :)

I believe Asso is hiding a mandolina somewhere and dreams of giving serenade to every woman of the board. Of course, his biggest dream is to give serenade to a pointy eared woman, because that would only be logical. :D
