Here are some wiki links that explain a little about what it is.

sweet. we could talk for hours. i'm eventually planning to do my masters work in pde applications in CFD. I studied it for awhile in the ME dept and worked on two-phase flow problems on a satellite propulsion system.

Actually, I got a chance to work with a biochemical engineering prof who had done research on three-phase flow with like nanosystem research on heart valve technology and flows in them. Neat stuff.

Impressive, very impressive.

:D I'd be very interested to work in satellite propulsion and that biochemical stuff Wow!

I'm actually doing my masters about nonlinear pde's and turbulence, but only in two dimensional flows

In my new job I'm going to do some two-phase or multi-phase flow problems for some energy technologies needs here in Finland. I'm going to work in this very good research institute for technology.
It's great to finally have a job I would want to go to even if I would be so rich that I wouldn't have to work for a living. :D

HELP! :faint:
Well yes. I continue to write. And on Fanfiction.Net, for those who want, it is possible to cast a glance at my latest efforts. We arrived to
The Ears of the Elves, chapter Forty-four

And here is the beginning of the whole story.

But, I must say, you could also find something else on Fanfiction.net written by me. If you want.

Fluid dynamics? Energy technologies? Let me advertise my foolish ignorance and take a wild haired stab in the dark. You are going to work on research related to either tidal or wave generated power stations?

*EEEEEKKKK* I thought I escaped those evil words after graduation.

Apparently, they follow you everywhere :-P. I'll leave the fluids to you two *shudder*

The work I'm going to do is for more normal power plants. I'll tell you more after I actually start my new work. As a mathematician I have to admit that I'm more interested about the mathematical theory behind it and especially about applying that theory in computational methods and improvement of the computational methods and so on.
I'm more excited about the multi phase flow problems part than the power plant part.

A mathematician!! A girl mathematician... 8)

Bookworm, is any of your work (or study) been in nonlinear PDEs/systems that are psuedoperiodic or chaotic? I took a chaos and nonlinear dynamics class this semester.

It was interesting but I have a hard time getting over my deadly aversion to numerical analysis and coding. I absolutely hate it. That's what will probably keep me in analysis even though PDEs are so much fun

I loved PDE the class because in ODEs it was all pretty basic but in PDE every day it was like "ok now we have to learn some complex analysis to solve this", "ok today we have to learn fourier integrals to solve this..." it was so cool the way it pulled from all these corners of mathematics.

--By the way, she said she's only doing two-dimensional turbulent flow. For everyone else out there, that's still really hard  . I only learned one-dimensional flow in my undergrad thermofluids I/II courses. And for the satellite system, we only dealt with one-dimensional to approximate losses and performance. We did some preliminary two-D stuff in a CFD program I can't remember the name of...

Can you even DO three-dimensional fluid flow analysis without CFD? I don't think you can can you?

Uh..... :?

no?

I did well to calculate rotational vectors and support stresses on a coal mine pillar. Hydrodynamic runoff coefficients for erosion control was as challenging as I ever got, and I needed half a reference library and graphics calculator for even that much. Egad...

I think -- I hope -- I'm back in business again. Almost two weeks ago my computer decided that it was a good day to die. :( So...I bought a new computer. A computer teckie came out and installed it. (If it requires more than just plugging it in, I'm hopelessly lost.) Several days and many curse words later, it became clear that there was a major problem with the hard drive. Last Sunday, I took the "new" computer back to the store and the store exchanged it for another one, which is hopefully not afflicted with the same problem. However, the teckie just got around to installing it this evening. :happyjump: Better late than never. Now I can get caught up on my reading. Yeah!

Does this mean more fan fic soon?

Hey I NEVER get caught up on my reading. There are just to many dang good writers around here. :? Not that this is a complaint, mind you.
Working on a major fan fic project. Two-thirds done. Hope to put it up in the not TOO distant future.
