Well done JadziaKathryn! Very Happy

I have been around on other boards, usually lurking.
The first one I found and the best (to me anyway) was HoT. I lurked there for a long time before being brave enough to join in, and after a lot of pilot error, and a lot of help from Myst, I got on!
Then I found the Trek BBS, and enjoyed my time there a lot. Again lots of friendly posters who helped me (especially boushh and binah in the beginning). I even helped found the THUGs! Laughing But, once the series actually ended, a lot of people lost interest I suppose, and it has changed. I still go over there to the Enterprise forum, though most of the posters there are here (which is why I came!) and on the Brunette Jolene boards too!
I can't be on any more boards, I loose track as it is! Confused

This is a very easy site to navigate. Much easier than HoT for me (no offence to anyone over there.) You've done a really good job. In case no one had told you lately. Very Happy

An incident happened to my son last week. He's 16 and was at the playground at like 10:30 at night (I know, you'll say where were the parents? But he was sleeping over at a freinds house). A van pulled up and suddenly they were being fired at--rapid fire. The were terrified and only later realized it was paintballs. One of my son's friends was hit several times with paintballs. The story turned up in the news the next day, but other "victims" were interviewed, not these kids.

Gosh, jusTrip'n, I hope that was not practice for the real thing! And even if it was a non-lethal paintball attack, it could actually kill someone with a heart condition who became very frightened.
Working on a major fan fic project. Two-thirds done. Hope to put it up in the not TOO distant future.

There are likely laws already in place against this sort of thing (assault, I think, as well as battery since some of the paintballs actually hit people) so if the assclowns are caught, they should face some pretty stiff penalties.

That's horrible. I hope the kids are all right. It's bad enough they had stuff hit them, but that it was as if someone was shooting at them is very disturbing. They must have been pretty scared at first...

I had something similar happen to me and my friends the summer after we graduated from college. We were shooting an indie film and were outside on the curb across the street from a bar doing exteriors.

These fools drove by in a car and threw Seven Eleven slushies at us and our equipment. One of them hit me in the face. A few ricocheted (sp?) off of several people. It was not pleasant. It got in the equipment too, which was on loan from the school. We were soooo pissed. It's a funny story to tell now, but at the time it sucked.

I hope they catch the idiots that were firing the paint ball guns. That's just not right at all. Don't those things hurt too?

Depends on what the air pressure is set at and the consistency of the paintballs are (i.e. frozen paintballs hurt more than room temperature ones). Range is also a factor. I suppose its theoretically possible to really injure someone with a paintball gun ... you'd have to freeze all of the paintballs and put the air pressure waaaaay up there ... but that would be considered aggravated assault, I think...

Hurts less than a bullet, anyway...

boushh, You were shooting an indie film? You'll be a very interesting person to meet at the Cherry Hill con!

My husband made several movies in college. Student movies. I always got bit parts in them. I even had a line of dialogue. Weird to watch them now. The kids can't even recognize us in them . . .

Oh, and the pain of the paintball bullet isn't really the issue here. I'm just angry that for a minute my poor little Paris thought he was going to die. He said his kness were shaking or weak for a long time afterward. His sometime girlfriend was there too with some other friends.
