Back to baby news...
I went to the Carolina's Women's Center today for a detailed genetic analysis for the baby. I was in there from 8:30AM-12:30. A friend of mine was watching Christina, so it wasn't too bad. They were pretty thorough, with a detailed genetic history of both families. Looks like there's a definite family trend with heart problems and (possibly) autism. So they took 5(!) vials of blood because they're gonna test for a LOT of stuff, including Down's Syndrome, TriS, Fragile X and a whole lot of other possible genetic defects. They actually had to send me to Carolina Labs for it because my veins haven't recovered from being in the hospital 2 weeks ago.
So I'm still a bit loopy. I'm not sure how much more plasma I can contribute. LOL
I also had a level II ultrasound. Looks like everything's good so far. They were really looking close at the baby's spine (because methotrexate blocks the absoption of folic acid), brain and heart (because of the increased risk of heart defects). Needless to say I was scared sh!tless because I was so nervous something was wrong.
And it looks like the first U/S was wrong. IT'S A GIRL!!!!!
So God willing and crossing fingers, it'll continue to go well.
Now, we've got to keep Christina up tonight for a sleep-deprived EEG tomorrow. Robert's taking the late shift, and I'm going to be driving Christina into Dr. Dayal's office by 7 AM---and the office is clear across town. Wish us luck. This is gonna be tough.
