wow. 2 times faster than Blue Gene. Blue Gene is 3 times faster than anything else. So 6 times faster than anything OTHER than Blue Gene.

Impressive.

It's working on classified nuclear stuff. I hope it's got a lot of anti-hacker precautions.

Nuclear stuff first, then other things like medicine. *sigh* I have an issue with the priorities.

I'm sure it's not even connected to an outside network.

hehehehe. So is your dual core, or your dual processor, or your hyper-threaded P4!

Techincally not, since they all share the same data bus. HT'd P4 are only 1 processor fooled into running as two, so it doesn't count at all. Machines like that one communicate with each others individual data buses over high speed ethernet or another form of comm technology. 8)

Well but my point is it's a bit of a debatable question at some point as to where teh computer starts and stops when you're talking about multiple cores and all that. I realize that HT is just the way the instructions are processed in tandem but that's kind of what I mean.

I didn't think ethernet would be fast enough for all these machines to talk to each other.

I wouldn't put it past it. You can buy stupidly fast ethernet cards eg I know you can get 4/10GBPS cards...
