Well! I'm thinking this thread is becoming very interesting!
Well yes. I continue to write. And on Fanfiction.Net, for those who want, it is possible to cast a glance at my latest efforts. We arrived to
The Ears of the Elves, chapter Forty-four

And here is the beginning of the whole story.

But, I must say, you could also find something else on Fanfiction.net written by me. If you want.

A secret marriage register? That seems like it ought to be an oxymoron. Fascinating.

I've always thought that the people who created the "secret marriage" Register were XIX romantics who believed they were Friar Lawrence from "Romeo and Juliet".

In any time, the bride and bridegroom can ask for the certification that proves their marriage (I suppose this happened when somebody accused their children of being illegitimate.) It's secret and nobody (not the witnesses nor the bride or the groom without the consent of the other part) can make it public till then.

I don't listen to your song, sirens!

Besides, I try to imagine that scene:

Priest: (after leaving the blunderbuss on the altar) What do you want, young couple?
Trip: (looking at all places, imagining spies in every corner) Ehhh... we... we wanted to marry, father.
Priest: Of course, of course, a happy new. Congratulations. I don't know you... are you the son of the baker?
Trip: Wha'? No, no, we aren't from here.
Priest: You are from Tolosa, Hernani, Donosti... Santurce?
Trip: No, we aren't from here.
Priest: (touching the blunderbuss) You aren't Basque?
Trip: No, but we've heard that we can marry here... you know... in secret.
Priest: Why would you want to do something like that? A marriage is a happy event, after all.
Trip: Yes... of course... but it's complicated. You know... we're from different places... Her culture is very rigid...
T'Pol: Mine?
Trip: The fight to death, honey. You have to remember the fight to death.

The priest looks at T'Pol and he creates his own story.

Priest: Oh, I understand. You don't have to tell me more, youg man. (Looking at T'Pol) You are Muslim, aren't you?
T'Pol: (eyebrow arched) I beg your pardon?
Priest: Nothing wrong in that, except the fact that your religion is false and all of you will burn in Hell. But of course, this marriage changes everything. After your conversion you will enter into the Kingdom of God.
T'Pol: I am not going to be converted.
Priest: (aiming T'Pol) Say what?

I don't think it's a good place for our couple...

Do I have to gather from your nice scene you want to say that priests are the same under every sun?

I've just watched a documentary about the region of Piemonte. It's very gorgeous! You're so lucky to live in such a beautiful country, Asso :D

Sorry to be boring, but here is a video of a game of "pelota", our national sport: http://es.youtube.com/watch?v=pT0SxGIl3_A&feature=related. I put it because around the end of the video there is a young hostess. She's Sandra, she was one of my classmates and she's part of my "cuadrilla" (you know, "group of friends".) I also want to point out that the men with a dark jacket who are standing near the grandstand are bookies (I told you we like to bet :D )

Oh yeah, I loved that line too.

Pelota is the same thing as jai-alai in this country, apparently. (Well, where I grew up in Florida anyway.)

Your friend is very pretty!

I'm glad that the short play "Trip, T'Pol and the Basque Wedding" is considered funny. YAY! :happyjump:

Alelou wrote:Pelota is the same thing as jai-alai in this country, apparently. (Well, where I grew up in Florida anyway.)

Well, yeah, that's because we took it there. Jai=party, alai=merry (or happy); Jai alai=merry party. But I thought you played it with a wicker basket. We don't call this modality jai-alai, we call it "cesta punta".

Alelou wrote:Your friend is very pretty!

I know, I was her shield! :D The guys that approacher her used to begin to ask "Shall we da-" only to be interrupted by my "she doesn't dance"
