Dude, I've never actually talked to anybody else who's read Looking Backward! Awesome book, I loved it. I read it for a Philosophy of Politics class, during or socialism unit.

Welcome, Eian! Great, some one who speaks Gaelic! I did some study after Keltish Christianity in the middle ages, love to go to Ireland one day and really like the band Iona (they sing in Gaelic).
They should have a song in Gaelic instead of sending the turkey! :D
And now to a real ST topic, I think Vulcans and Old Kelts have a lot in common, IMHO.

I think this book is absolutely fantastic! I love seeing how people envisioned the future in 1888. It's one of the novels I make my students read. The class discussions that follow are great. Star Trek almost always comes up!

I am just dying to hear what Vulcans and Middle Age Celts have in common! Rud éigin spéisiúil, for sure!

Oh, and my Gaelic is pretty basic. I'm 2nd Gen Irish American! My grandparents are kickin' it up in the lowlands, though!

Oh, another historian! (Well, if you've reached professor stage you're ahead of me, as I'm working on my MA, but anyway...) What's your area of expertise?

Early Modern European history, as well as Renaissance and Reformation

Also European history, although I'm particularly focused on British Imperialism. The early modern/modern European history generally pulls me in. I love it.

Hey btw, I forgot, but we have another historian, she's just never around. Starwatcher, who was very active back at HoT, she's just completing her PhD like RIGHT NOW, just finished her thesis. Her focus is consumerism in 1930's-40's United States, I believe. She's all into FDR and stuff. It's so awesome in a brit :D. She celebrates 4th of July over there in England and everything. I told her to be careful, it might be considered treason ;)

Howdy! I'm Aquarius, from Deeeeeee-troit, MI, and I'm glad to be here! I'm a hairdresser, longtime Trek fan dating back to the original series (yeah, so I'm all old and stuff!), but somewhere in the middle I lost track of Enterprise. Rediscovered it this past weekend with Sci Fi Channel's Viewer's Choice Marathon, and was wondering why nobody told me Trip and T'Pol had gotten so HOT!!!

Any way, I'm a fanfic writer--mostly Star Wars (I'm a Han/Leia shipper and I run a site and forum devoted to them) but recently I've also dabbled in Buffy, Doctor Who, Torchwood, Hex, and Buck Rogers. By the end of the Enterprise marathon, I had at least three Trip/T'Pol plot bunnies brewing...which is why I'm here!

By the way, did I mention that Trip and T'Pol are HOT???

*ahem* Okay, I'm back...

Any way, I'm looking forward to getting my feet wet in Enterprise fandom and meeting new friends.

Cheers!
