Fastest in the pool that race. A shame her teammates couldn't keep it a little closer.

Anyone see that women's gymnastics vault final last night? Anyone else think the judging was a touch suspect? And how about that 30-something year old on the German team? Great story, that one!

I heard the math was goofy for Nastia Luikin's uneven bars (or was it parallel bars?) performance. Basically I guess when you have a dead tie, they start adding up the first deduction by each player, compare it, etc, and go on until they find a mismatch. Apparently the first few deductions were equal between her and the Chinese player and then Nastia's deductions went higher by .033 of a pt. Crazy.

What do you think she says to her tool before she jumps? 8)
Well yes. I continue to write. And on Fanfiction.Net, for those who want, it is possible to cast a glance at my latest efforts. We arrived to
The Ears of the Elves, chapter Forty-four

And here is the beginning of the whole story.

But, I must say, you could also find something else on Fanfiction.net written by me. If you want.

I thought Boxing and Figure Skating were bad when it came to judging, at least even more so than Gymnastics, another sport with notoriously poor and biased judging, but that took the cake. Even with a new scoring system they can't seem to get their shit together. I feel for these athletes that are continuously shafted. I want to see Bella go Klingon on the IOC Gymnastics Federation. :banghead:

I'm not into sports, and I haven't really followed the Olympics. But I did notice that my country's female hurdles champion Susanna Kallur fell the other day. Maybe I sent her some bad vibes since I actually met her (well, I walked past her) at the Stockholm-Arlanda Airport last week (I was flying to London and I suppose she was going to Beijing). ;)

A guy from my home town won silver in the shot put! He's from Eldon, MO, but his family lives in Jefferson City now (where I live).

Dood, isn't that the Capital City of MO? Think he'll get a parade and a key to the city?

Yeah it's the capitol. But nah, it was featured on the news but I don't think it's THAT big of a deal. IDK. He ran track & field up at Columbia too. It'd be really cool if he ran track at my highschool but I think he went to a different highschool.

What has come of the US Track Program? :? This has been one of the poorest Olympics for US track in my lifetime.

Elesser wrote:But if they ARE underage, it pisses the whole thing out the window because it all becomes a big game of tea leaf reading. "Well they're good, they'd probably be as good if they were 2 yrs older', etc. Well who knows, that's a complete shot in the dark. They're superior, but I think the point of the rule is b/c girls are better when they're younger, right? Pound for pound (or year for year, rather), the Americans might be just as good as the Chinese, if you could equalize them year for year. MIGHT. Guessing either way is still guess, so, in my view, IF they were underage, it tosses the whole discussion out the window. Do you take away the medals? Hell yes. Giving em to the US in the event they're disqualified isn't a statement of superiority of the US, it's a statement of "Hey China, don't lie about your team, this is what happens." I don't see the problem if the U.S. is "not as good" as the Chinese because you don't know how much of it is because they're just better, the Chinese, and how much of it is b/c they're younger, it's impossible to know.

Dude, you might just get your wish! The IOC is investigating He Kexin's age. The London Times reported proof of a Chinese gov't cover-up.

That is a piss poor shame, doing something like that to those poor little girls. they worked their hearts out to get those medals. It's not their fault that their government is a pack of shit licking sons of .... whatevers.
