That's a good point about their apparent level of comfort. It is all wrong.
Though if you ask me they never really played T'Pol as being freaked out by physical contact except with that handshake and the way she ate breadsticks with knife and fork. She seemed to acclimate to human norms awfully fast. Maybe they just got lazy.
PWP is an acronym for "Plot? What Plot?" It typically refers to fic that features a displaced or narratively unsupported sex scene, with little to no plausible motivation or consequence, hinging heavingly on both reader familiarity and agreement with the opening premise.
For instance, all of the sudden (when?), Trip and T'Pol (who?) are having hot monkey sex in a turbolift (where?), the end. You assume that the reader know Enterprise, know the characters, agrees that both are heterosexual, that they're both hot for each other, that they would both be willing to have abandoned monkey sex in a turbolift and that there are no significant reprecussions. (The end)
Plot? Hahahaha... what plot?
As for Enterprise, I'm pretty sure the writers just got lazy. Imagine if you were assigned to a Klingon ship and a week later you were mostly okay with: the hideous body odors, hideous behavior, crude attitudes, the targ pooping on your foot, them scarfing down gahk right in front of you, their grossly intolerant attitudes towards your entire culture and standards of polite behavior, and you were totally cool with some person you don't know pawing you. With nasty goop.
Yeah. Right.
