Indeed! You should see all the crazy out-of-this-world rationalizations I've seen the AinTers make on TBBS (well, before I left there anyway). It totally blows your mind.

But I suppose some could say the same about us and our reaction to *the_abomination*...

 If they hadn't framed it the way they did, then yes. If you ask me they purposely built in the escape clause on that one. And arguably it was a much more plausible escape clause than the one they used for Spock in The Search for Spock.

I wasn't going to bring this up but I actually watched the abomination last night, finally.

It's been 4 years almost... and I finally watched the last episode of Enterprise.

It was painful, it was nonsensical, but it didn't depress me as bad as the last time I tried to watch it. This is probably because the very same day, several hours earlier, I watched Terra Prime :D. The thing is... the one scene in which they try to accede some intimacy between Trip and T'Pol... in the shuttlecraft... it's just like two COMPLETELY different people. The way they talk to each other, the way they interact, it's as if 6 years just passed by overnight. Or that they managed to go 6 years on the same ship without ever talking or interacting and are suddenly like "Did you miss me?" "Hmm, well.. uhhh.... IDK" "Yeah... IDK either... huh...". It was just like season 4 hadn't happened. I swear to God, I still swear that he fucking wrote that episode in Season 3. They DENY IT UP AND DOWN but I KNOW that Brannon Braga wrote that stupid episode in season 3. He had to have. It makes NO SENSE following season 4. Actually, it sounds like it was written EARLY in season 3 even. Certainly before Damage. They just have like the smallest modicum of intimate connection. It's just two different people, plain and simple.

The only scene I liked everything about was the scene Tucker walks in (amazingly, after his death) into the galley and talks to Chef. It's very much got the "back from the dead, I'll always be around" feel to it. Like it was all a farce, he's still here, kind of thing. It made me feel a little better.

Actually I like that shuttlepod scene. I think it has that painful exes feel about it, and yet it suggests there's still an ember there, on both sides, ready to flare up again. (Shoot me now!)

However, I also continue to think the whole thing is a trashy holo-novel written by someone who clearly is just making it up from the sketchiest of historical information, who doesn't know that actually these two are, hello, bonded for life. But I kind of regret giving up that particular scene to my theory, because I think it would be rich with potential ... if Trip didn't drop dead shortly thereafter, anyway.

Just out of curiosity and story research, what does the word "ember" means. My on-line dictionary (friend in need, now the paper one is in boxes for months) didn't give my any answers.. :D

My online dictionary says it's a hot glowing or smouldering fragment of wood or coal left from a fire. Also known as "coal" :D

The only two parts I like from *the_abomination* is T'Pol holding the figure of Frankenstein and Archer in that same scene, when he talks about what he thought when he took command and the last part, when he says: "And now Trip is dead, and I have to give a speech about how worthwhile it's all been." I like T'Pol's reaction to that too.

Really? Well, that's fits my story line perfectly. :D The smouldering part, not the coal. :D

Frankly, Archer's presence in that scene is horrible for me! :x

Yep, Escriba got it right. Basically something that could flare right up again.

I like the T'Pol/Archer scene too -- especially Frankenstein. It nicely underplays what is clearly anguish on both their parts. Though I could have done without the absence makes the heart grow fonder/time heals all wounds line.

And of course the whole thing is made up bogus holo-novel dreck.

Archer breaks into something so intimate that it cannot be shared with anyone.

The whole shuttle pod scene doesn't make sense to me.
Here you have two people whom we are made to believe they split up six years ago, after a very emotional time for both of them.

Option 1. T'pol breaks up with Trip. But if that's case, why does T'pol, how has trouble already with bringing up things about their relationship, suddenly asked Trip if he is missing their relationship? Would you asked that to your ex-boyfriend if you broke up with him? Unlikely.
And would your ex-boyfriend say I sometimes miss you and we still have this connection? Most likely he would say "Hey, you broke up with me, end of discussion".
At even if the break-up was friendly -hard to imagine after their emotional termoil - and times heals all wounds, still Trip is too sweet for her in option 1. Not even a sarcastic remark, no hard feelings against T'pol, he looks like he adjusted to the situation and so does she. Without really "liking" their situation.
Option 2. Trip breaks up with T'pol. All of the above and even more unlikely that T'pol would bring up their relationship. He broke up with her, remember.
Option 3. Both agreed to break up. That would explain a lot. But still it would be more logical if Trip refers to this. Like I miss you too sometimes, but I still think we made the right decision.
Option 4. Trip and T'pol are forced to break up by circumstances and politics. That would explain their attitude in the scene. Both still feeling sorry they are not longer together.
I don't think Star fleet is very pleased with the relationship between Trip and T'pol becoming public, nor the Vulcan goverment. Star fleet would likely split them up and let them serve on different ships. That doesn't happen. This scene and others in *the_abomination* leaves so many questions, option 4 doesn't sound very farfetch to me.

About Archer in *the_abomination*, the whole episode was a glorify-Archer episode. And after the way he treats T'pol and the so called death of Trip, everthing he does and says just gave me a bad taste in my mouth.
Love is a verb.
