YES!
Well yes. I continue to write. And on Fanfiction.Net, for those who want, it is possible to cast a glance at my latest efforts. We arrived to
The Ears of the Elves, chapter Forty-four

And here is the beginning of the whole story.

But, I must say, you could also find something else on Fanfiction.net written by me. If you want.

Well, I could see those two deciding to put their intimate relationship aside, but remaining (perhaps involuntarily) quite close. And I could definitely see T'Pol suddenly realizing she might be without Trip soon and bringing that up. I thought Trip's "Benefit of being a Vulcan" was appropriately bitter. And she had the grace to look embarrassed. But it's clear there's still something there. Otherwise, he wouldn't have pushed her when she tried to back off, and she wouldn't have insisted on making her point about missing him even after he guarantees that they will stay in touch, which is a sign right there of continuing regard. I still don't 'buy' the scene anymore than I buy the rest of that episode, but I think it works beautifully as a sort of stand-alone set piece between the two of them in this alternative (screwed up) universe.

I won't defend Archer. You either despise the character or you don't. To me it seems that Trip's fans often want to blame Archer for being, you know, the series' lead character. Well, he just is. He didn't turn out to be the series' most interesting or likeable character, which is unfortunate and arguably Enterprise's greatest failing, but he's still the lead.

And now I will utterly digress from all of this just to say once again how HORRIBLE and WRONG-HEADED the newer Persuasion production is. (It's repeating tonight and my husband insisted -- he has a very fortunate fondness for Jane Austen productions for a guy since I am a JA fanatic.) I would turn into one of those incivil maniacs over that one. Gah! It's trying to be super romantic but it ultimately appears to be ALL ABOUT THE HOUSE. It has NO SENSE OF HUMOR. And it takes the MOST IMPORTANT CONVERSATION IN THE NOVEL and puts in the WRONG PLACE where the HERO DOESN'T EVEN HEAR IT. Gah! The last twenty minutes officially make this version A TRAVESTY. And no, I don't care HOW good looking the hero is. :)

Thank you for your good insights about the scene.
I don't dislike Archer, he is an okay character for me, I just don't like the way people are all saying he is such a hero, such a great captain blablabla.
If you want some one to be a hero, let him act in a way that makes us think he is one. Not let him walk around with a sign and a arrow pointing at him saying "HERO. You have to like this guy".
Esp. *the_abomination* is a good example of this kind of screenplay.
But what do you expect from a historical inaccurate holo programm?

BTW how horrible it is when you like Jane Austens novels and they turned it in some thing dreadful. But you are lucky with your husband, Alelou, mine can't stand JT, hates mr. Darcy and thinks it's too "'British" slow.

Yes, I am VERY lucky in that regard. Now if he just liked Trip and T'Pol... :)

But he is watching Firefly with me, at least.

I found Archer most interesting in Season 3 when he couldn't afford to be a Boy Scout any longer. I kind of enjoyed, too, how Daniels was always making Archer out to be the hero who founded the Federation and he kept saying to hell with that, screwing it up royally, and somehow stumbling into his heroic place in history anyway. I love that he procrastinates so terribly over that final speech, almost misses it, and ultimately feels really bitter about having to give it. But the man gives it. I'm not sure why I like that, I just do.

Hugging T'Pol, though? <Shudder> Not good. That's how you know for sure that the whole thing is really made-up poo poo. :)

You mean this one: http://es.youtube.com/watch?v=K5K7_fqHILI&feature=related? Yes, even if "Persuasion" is probably Austen's more serious novel, even if the lead male is dashing and even if Anthony Stewart Head is in it (*squeeee*) I agree. I think I rather the older one (with Ciarán Hinds), it conveys better the story of Anne Elliot: a poor woman that always finds out things against her will :D By the way, what happens with British actors? If they have appeared in an adaptation of an Austin's novel, they appear in "Rome" too

But to compensate your anger about that adaptation, I've made a trailer of "Persuasion", TnT style: Enterprise Persuasion (please, right click an "save as").

By the way, any complain or advice about the quality, size, the crappiness of the sound or a gramatical error to be corrected will go to the Department "I don't care and if you want to improve it do it yourself :raspberry:"

Yeah, yeah, I know I should be doing other things 8)

 Oh Lordie!

You have a real knack for this. Forget law, do trailers!

And yes, the Ciaran Hinds version IS far, far truer to the spirit of the original. It moves a little slow in the beginning for my taste, but it gets the characters right AND the novel and its period right, except for the weird carnival scene in Bath.

And half the fun of watching British actors is spotting them in every other damned thing you watch. Rome was good for that. :D

Sorry to derail your thread but did anyone else notice that Cameron from Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles is named after Cameron from House? Like because now her name's Cameron but the chick she was impersonating in the future was named Alison. :p

I think we were derailing your thread, so by all means. :)

I spent the day sneezing, blowing my nose, and watching "Firefly" just in case the library wouldn't extend my borrowing period (but they did, so now I can see some of it again). What a great show. What a pity it got cut so short.

Nope, sorry but the Terminatrix Cameron (played by the lovely Summer Glau  ) is named after director James Cameron, who made the first two Terminator movies.

Holy crap! We have 3 fandoms in the same thread right now, but TP, you just blew my mind! I JUST picked up Sarah Connor Chronicles (like yesterday, watched the first 2 seasons consecutively) and I didn't notice that.

Tell you whatt, though, I'm creating a Terminator thread :D

I knew that - but it's a crazy coincidence that her human counterpart was named Alison Young.

Ok someone talk about the House episode that was on tonight. We gotta get back on topic. I can't, haven't watched it yet.

It was pretty good. I'll abstain from talking about it yet since you haven't watched it. Great House/Cuddy interaction (meaning humorous) and IMO exculpatory for my position on why House/Cuddy doesn't work :D :D
