Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles
So, anyone else really liking this show? As I said in the House thread, I watched Seasons 1 and 2 totally back to back. What do you like about it? What do you dislike about it?
If you haven't checked it out I would strongly recommend you do. It strikes me as a mix between Jericho, X-Files (in terms of conspiracies), and the whole "John Connor and Cameron in school" thing is probably reminicient of something on WB like Smallville maybe? But I never watched that. Plus, Summer Glau's "Cameron" is definitely the T'Pol of the show. Gorgeous, but the most intriguing character, and definitely the center of attention and speculation.
I'm going to give my piece in a second, when I get back w/ my food.

I really like this show. But I can't stand Summer Glau she has like the most annoying voice ever. Ugh
heh reminds me the South Park episode "It Hits the Fan" like when the monster comes out to destroy everything, and then they defeat it and the monster talks in that lame retarded voice and they go like what the frell kinda voice is that supposed to be

Re: Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles
I watched all of Season 1, and I've DVRd all of Season Two, but I'm way behind on watching them, so I'll get back here once I've seen more.
I do basically like the show, though.

Was it the same for you in Firefly? I mean is her voice the same?
I think it's funny that she is like the exact same character. Don't get me wrong though, I think that in this RARE instance, it actually works for her. Like, River Tam = Cameron. Other than the fact that Cameron's super strong b/c she's a machine and knows a ton of stuff b/c she was programmed to, they're the same. River Tam was just incredibly strong and agile and a good fighter b/c she was a physical prodigy and knew a lot of stuff because she was a supergenius and a telepath. But if you look at River Tam once she stopped being psychotic, like the 3rd quarter of Firefly and during Serenity, when she was pretty much relaxed but still tweaky and weird, that's how Cameron acts half the time. Where she'll sit absolutely quiet for an hour and then say something off the wall like, "Flies only live for two and a half hours."

I haven't noticed anything weird about her voice, personally. My friend Mark complains that she's not hot because of that "weird" birthmark on her eyebrow. I hardly ever notice it.
I have to say, in watching it (careful Aquarius, spoiler alert!):
SPOILER!!!:
I was really happy (and somewhat surprised) when Derrick Reese ended up staying with them. I thought he'd die or something, probably because I'm kind of used to Star Trek's whole "don't rock the boat, any new characters introduced will end up dying by the end of the introductory episode to keep the status quo the same" philosophy. I like him a lot, and I think his perspective adds to the show a sense of, what people think of John Connor who aren't sort of absorbed by and obsessed with the preconceived notion that 'John Connor is God'. I get the feeling that people in the past who believe in his prophesied future, including his mother to some degree, give him a free pass on decisions and somewhat on behavior. I mean his mother gives him a hard time when he goes out and sees a girl, but there's this lynch pin that will ALWAYS be there by which she will never ultimately question him, or ultimately question his worth or his value, more than just because she's his mother. Cameron's ultimate reason for existence is to protect him, and so is Sarah's. Derrick has seen John Connor in a kind of normal, every-day light. I mean he thinks very highly of him, but he also comes from a place and time where John Connor's a very different grown man than this kid. He doesn't exactly look at 16 yr old John Connor and see 30 yr old John Connor like every one else. He doesn't think he's infallible like Cameron's programmed to do and like Sarah does. I like that about him, it brings a fresh perspective.
I have to say, I'm not 100% sure what I think of Jesse yet. It took me a minute to recognize Kendra Shaw from Battlestar Galactica: Razor, hehe. I was suspicious from the start because she should have been a hell of a lot more questioning about just what Derrick was spending all his time doing since his safe house was wiped out. I also thought it didn't seem to fit that someone so tough-as-nails (a Razor!), had just folded and decided to give up the cause. It just didn't fit. So when we found out she'd been trailing Connor and Cameron and them, it didn't surprise me. That episode about Charles Something was AWESOME. The idea that they came from two different futures is pretty cool. I hate how sometimes things that should seem obvious to characters aren't brought up b/c the writers think it's too advanced or something? Like for the average person to go 'hey wait a minute, what if we're from two different timelines?' seems pretty basic to me. I was glad Derrick thought of it. Hell I DIDN"T even think of that particular one.
I think we are in store for some real revelations about what's going on in the future with respect to what's going on between older John Connor and Cameron, possibly how it related to Allison Young, and also this sense of growing dissension in the ranks. Also, who the guy who came through was that had been shot in the chest. Perhaps their "bubble project" has been destroyed now, if they were under assault when he went through, because it seemed to be in the bowels of their outpost. I really loved how they were running it with like 6 turbine engines.
Let's see, what else... Oh, I wonder how the whole John/Cameron thing (at least in the past) is going to flesh out. I wonder if they're going to use the fact that her chip is damaged to rationalize emotions... how they're going to continue to build from that scene where she was crushed (and her chip damaged) and she cried out that she loved him. I mean can you define emotions as aberrations of normal thought processes? Could a machine love if it were damaged, if its logic circuits were corrupted to allow for irrationality, unpredictability, even a form of chaotic behavior? It seems to make sense to me. The function of emotions in the biological brain is something of an aberrant behavior, why not in a synthetic brain? I don't know how many people would like that because in this franchise there's a very large and well established preconceived notion of what a Terminator is... hey... sorta like for Vulcans in Star Trek!
Sound familiar?!
I think that's kind of what they're building towards. There's hints all over the place. Sarah Connor saying, "And I don't like how he responds to you" to Cameron. The look in Connor's face when she (though it was reasonable sure she was just trying to fool him) was crushed and shouted that she loved him. They were definitely trying to show that his face registered something new and 'holy shit'-esque. And everyone that comes back from the future talks like future-Connor is consorting with one of the Camerons. Is it the Cameron that captured Allison? Has she been turned by some remarkable feat, or is she just infiltrating?
Another thing I find interesting about the entire Terminator franchise is the take they have on people dying. Like, pretty often, they say, "Well you did die... 2 years from now" and then they go and fix that. So, even though John Connor and secondarily, Sarah Connor, are of the utmost importance and their protection is like the entire concept of the franchise, they routinely die in the future and are in some way temporally resurrected or un-killed by changes in the timeline all the time. We saw it in T3 and now in this show.
I'm guessing T4 is just going to completely ignore the TV show's canon, since it will probably be simultaneous. But it would be awesome if they incorporated it in some way, albeit it would be simplest and least complicated if it were a minor name drop or event that just corroborated the two, like an Allison Young or a Cameron model. I'm not suggesting they be complexly intertwined, just interrelated would be cool.
And what exactly the hell is up with Weaver? The Scottish Exec chick. For awhile there I was wondering how she had a child, but it makes more sense now, she was just replaced by a shape-shifter T1000 model. T1000's must be from further in the future b/c that seems like a pretty hardcore, advanced model. Still, the question of who does she work for, what is she doing, and has she been collaborating with all the other machine models in the present is a big one.

Gah yeah totally. I hate her voice. It's like an asphyxiated whine of a dying little forest creature or something.

Re: Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles
I love Summer Glau...love her, lover her, love her. I mean like "She is the future Mrs. THECURSOR"-style love her.
I wasn't even planning on watching that show until I discovered she was on it and I crossed my fingers that she'd have a lot of scenes. Hooray.

Re: Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles
I didn't ever see "The Sarah Connor Chronicles".
Probably it's too-early. Maybe they will be here later time.
But honestly I must say I loved only the first movie.
The following films didn't be enjoyed by me.

Well yes. I continue to write. And on Fanfiction.Net, for those who want, it is possible to cast a glance at my latest efforts. We arrived to
The Ears of the Elves, chapter Forty-four
And here is the beginning of the whole story.

But, I must say, you could also find something else on Fanfiction.net written by me. If you want.

What he said (well, not the Mrs. The Cursor bit)! Summer Glau is über-hot!

I've seen season one and am eagerly awaiting for them to air season two over here. If they don't do it in the near future, i'll have to resort to "other means".

I know dude. She is central. I love her too. Can we go all Ted Bundy and "split" her?

...we just worship from a distance instead

Yeah, I have no problems with her voice too...
Well, I don't really have the time to watch it all right now. Over a lenghty Christmas/New Year vacation maybe...

If I ever actually met her, I'd probably just sort of stand there and drool.
As for splitting her, well lets not turn down every idea out of hand, I'm sure there could be some sort of time share situation that we could...

Dew drops on sunflowers, indeed. And she's so good at looking all, "...I'll just... stare at the wall, because I'm either like River and I'm picking through your brain or I'm like Cameron and I'm thinking about how to most efficiently remove your brain...." *totally innocent empty stare*
