yeah, but we can't flood cause our house is like this.

The mountain is our backyard and the sheer dropoff is our front yard.

The road is down at the front yard level.

Well, you guys are certainly never going to be out of shape. Does your car sleep down on the road? Does this mean you never need to mow a lawn?

I have long found it a little annoying that we can't get into our house without going up a flight of stairs, but now I realize I was just being a total wuss...

You can drive up about 1/2 the distance from the road to the house, but, yeah, then there's like 40 concrete steps straight up from the driveway to the front door...no bend in the staircase, nuthin'. No handrail either. Real good place for someone to have an accident. Or an "accident" for that matter.

Keeps the grandparents away.

And the back deck is about 8 planks wide and then BAM -- you're walking up a big moss-covered rock.

No lawn, except the 10 flat feet at the very bottom. The yard is 2 acres but requires absolutely zero maintenance. It's nothing but the giant rock covered in moss, and then a woods behind that.

These are the restaurants where we have eaten it. I posted these images because I think they're "typical", someway.





In particular, I want to draw your attention on this one.
It's placed in the native home of Giacomo Manzù.



But also this is noteworthy. It's called "Donizetti Café". You know, the Donizetti who composed "The Elixir of Love". I hope you have read my "Honeymoon Evening", so splendidly edited by JT!

Very agreeable, Asso -- beautiful countryside and yes indeed, a very mysterious author standing there.

These pictures take so long to load, though, that I may not come back to this thread to see what everyone else says. I guess my DSL connection is not up to Bergamo!
